Once a squad is formed, how does it fire? Does the PC/leader fire once for the squad with an assisted skill check? I believe only one NPC can help with an unskilled assistance. I'm new so I must have missed something.

The squad have formations that they can use which assist the PC/leader in their checks. but the squad itself looses its ability to act in the round. they no longer get an action or maneuvers, they just go where the leader goes and helps them, acting as canon fodder!

So they can attack as an independent minion group. But it says they cannot have more than 5 rank in a skill. Does that mean they combined there rank skill into one number? Sorry just a little confused.

One more question. The minions only add boost dice from the particular squad formation their in and not from unskilled assistance.

Right, minions don't have skill ranks, they only get them by grouping, which causes them to act as one, with a skill rank added for every member beyond the first.

And yes, they only add the formation boost, not an assist.
