All jokes aside people, really, they said late Q1 and they've gotten quite good at hitting their marks. It's a pretty Herculean effort to get all this stuff coordinated. And yes, prior to Imperial Aces they repeatedly delayed. But really, from then on they were fairly accurate. Trust me, it can be a lot worse. My friend backed a kickstarter a year before we got into this game (wave 2) for Robotech minis, and it met all its kickstarter goals in a few days.

He's still waiting on more than half the models.

I am a surprised anything is being printed at all. With February 8th being Chinese NewYear, everything shuts down over there for people to go home and return to families. So count the next 2 to 3 weeks as non moving weeks for anything in the FFG supply chain that is based in China.

Hence why they need more local manufacturing.

Let's just hope there are no delays like there were with Imperial Aces...

It's going to be interesting to see if this expansion is enough to get the Defender into the meta.

I see a lot of "they are going to be so OP" here on the forums, but I always take comments like that with a truckload of salt. The same people (probably) said the same thing about the TIE Advanced fix, which made Vader competitive but not enough to bring any generics to the top tables. And Vader has a pilot ability that is so much stronger than any Defender pilot.

It could be. I'm actually fairly surprised at least one Defender isn't fairly popular right now, what with the prevalence of TLT ships and all.

Depends on the defender I would think, Tie/Ds with ion cannons should be pretty solid counters against TLT Ys. Ion the Y once, K turn behind it and burn it down. Obviously not a perfect solution, and it'll come down to the skill of the player but I feel Defenders don't do too badly against most TLTs

Yeah, but 1 agility against an HLC won't last them long either. I'd take Rexler and the Predators against a gold squad TLT build, I'd really love to see how that turns out. Especially if you're playing Rex right, don't bring him in too close until a Y's shields drop. Use the TIEs to physically screen them off.

Yeah frep, that sounds like fun. But until IV gets here, I'd rather take an HLC against TLT Y-Wings. It's expensive but it hits harder than they are really equipped to deal with. At the end of the day, no single TLT Y-Wing has the output to match an HLC Defender head to head, especially not Rexler once those shields drop. I mean that Y-Wing isn't really going anywhere fast, ion or no ion. And as long as that HLC can catch a pinky toe in arc, it's hurt-hurt-hurt all the way home. Plus attack by attack, the Defender has a much better chance of evading total damage for the turn than the Y-Wing does, and that's not even counting the rest of your list. Predator, Lone Wolf, and PtL with TIE Mk. II are all quite effective.

You may be right about this, but I haven't faced a list with more than two of them in it. The reason for that is exactly this: even though we have a good chunk of new players now, many of them have said that they quickly stopped using the TLT even if they're relying on turreted ships (since they're still new) because they are "extremely boring" to use. So I've not gotten to fly my list against a true TLT list yet because even our noobs are sick of them.

All this is true, but keep in mind it's not a 1 on 1 matchup there. HLC + Rexler costs about as much as two TLT Golds. As it should.

Conversely, TLTs can still eat it hard from Defenders. TIE/D in particular is fun vs TLTsa; first shot can move their donut hole out of the most threatening possible position, whilst the second blows them up with their now 0 agility. Y wings and K wings are currently the most common TLT characters and a list with TIE/D at the centre will burn them alive.
