So, right off the bat; I've not been playing for an amazingly long amount of time. (pushing 3-4 months now IIRC) Whilst I am getting the hang of most of the rebel ships, I am still goofing occasionally.
Now, there are a couple of stores in my area which me and my regular gaming buddy have located. I was actually set to attend a Store champs not too long ago, but circumstances prevented that, and I'm not going to be able to get out to any gaming venues on the weekends for a while.
This leaves me in a kind of limbo as far as developing my lists is concerned. Since I only get regular games against the one guy it has me concerned that we're metagaming each other a bit, with such a small sample size of players it's very easy to get way off track in terms of what is good.
For the purposes of alternatives you might suggest, I have:
TFA core set
1 a-wing
2 b-bwing
2 z-95
1 hwk
1 yt1300
1 yt2400
1 k-wing
1 t65 x-wing
1 t-70 x-wing
1 rebel aces
(I think that's everything. I'm trying to avoid the purchase of epic ships or empire/S&V unless I really need to).
This first list is probably a perfect example of what I'm talking about:
YT2400 ((58))
(pilot) Dash Rendar (36)
Kyle Katarn (3)
Outrider (5)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Push the limit (3)
Engine upgrade (4)
HWK 290 ((40))
(pilot) Jan Ors (25)
Nien numb (1)
Moldy Crow (3)
Cool hand (1)
twin laser turret (6)
engine upgrade (4)
(((98)))
I'm able to kite my opponent fairly well with this, but he's getting better at chasing it down. Dash is usually able to vaporise a ship most turns, and jan just chips away where she can. (If she gets to strip tokens off dash's target then even better)
2nd list, I'm enjoying quite a bit
A-wing ((31))
(pilot)Jake Farrel (24)
a-wing test pilot (0)
push the limit (3)
veteran instincts (1)
proton rockets (3)
B-wing ((25))
blue sq pilot (22)
ion cannon (3)
2x B-wing ((44))
blue sq pilots (44)
(((100)))
This seems to work very well. B-wings get to joust, and Jake gets to play ace-hunter (or flanker depending on the situation). I had toyed with the idea of removing the Prockets from Jake so I could get some fcs on the b-wings, but I find myself rather attached to the 5 dice.
This I actually threw together on a whim, and it did unexpectedly well.
2x A-wing ((30))
prototype pilots
chardaan refits
2x Z-95 ((24))
bandit sq pilots
2x B-wing ((46))
blue sq pilots
1 FCS
(((100)))
Given a chance to tweak it, I'd probably downgrade one of the a-wings to a z-95 so I could get the FCS for the other B-wing. But with only 2 z's to hand I couldn't do that.
It was a very interesting list to fly, the wingpairs were pretty easy to move around, and you could almost fly them like a single more expensive fighter (except when it benefits you to separate them). Only got one game under that list, but I'm now intrigued by the possibilities.
Also got some testing in with a (sort of) fat han list. The support ship(s) are pretty variable depending on what I feel like, but Han is pretty solidly nailed down as it were:
YT1300 ((59))
(pilot)Han Solo (46)
millennium falcon (1)
push the limit (3)
engine upgrade (4)
kyle katarn (3)
jan ors (2)
(((59)))
In the absence of C3p0, I wondered how that might compare with more conventional Han builds.
Thanks for any input you may have.
