Why no Juno Eclipse

By LordBlades, in X-Wing

No ship is weak if you fly it well. Ask ParaGoomba Slayer about Imperial Boba Fett, or ask Biophysical about Defenders. It can work if you learn the ins and outs of the ship.

...

Except the Scyk. Even then, it may finally find a home when the Tractor Beam is released.

The fact that 'it can work' in no way implies that other stuff wouldn't work better with a similar amount of effort put into mastering them.

If you fly a weak ship well, you can get good results against people that don't fly better ships as well as you do. However, you will likely lose against people who fly better ships as well as you fly your weak ships.

Extra Munitions was released right after I got my Raider, so I only got one night of gaming with the X1 title before I switched back to Tie Bombers. I have used an X1 a couple times since then, but I really should give it a go again.

Listened to some podcast last night and maybe it was Paul Heaver played vs. a Juno list in top tables? Juno might have won? I can't recall, but at least at Top Tables.

I'll have to give her a whirl as I haven't really tried out the X1 since it came out. Too many lists to try out, though, and not enough time...

This begs the question: Is Vader under-costed? I think maybe a little because is there any other ship I would take at his price point? No, not really. Vader with Title and ATC or a generic Defender? Vader. Naked Bounty Hunter or Vader? Vader. Fel or Vader? No wrong answer.

That's a real convenient set of comparisons - the Defender and Imp Firespray, two of the weakest Imperial ships.

Well, they also happen to be the only ships at the same point cost. I'm not going to compare him to a TIE Fighter or Decimator.

You forgot Soontir Fel with PtL and Autothrusters. Given the choice between the 2, I favor the Baron. Omega Leader is not to be dismissed too, and soon enough, the Inquisitor will be a great contender in the same price range.

No, I did not forget. See OP.

How about this build (I can't run it, don't own a Raider).

Juno 28, Accuracy Corrector 3, Outmaneuver 3 = 34. It's a point more than the Juke version, but it's more consistent, can be used when stressed, and makes great use of Juno's crazy-good K-turn adjustment ability. You could add Guidance Chip and a missile of your choice if you wanted some long range punch.

My bad. Somehow didn't see that last part.
