A banned list from...what?
There's a restricted list for the Star Wars LCG, but haven't heard of any like it that is X-Wing related.
Details OP, details.
I've heard nothing of any cards or combination of cards being banned. Well, beyond the current maximums of 4 of the same large ship, or 12 of the same small ship.
The black list of cheaters.
Probably there was some precedent, like when some fellow drew 3 cards instead of 2 in MTG tournament...
can't tell, don't know exact one in this case.
From what I remember the one guy on the banned list was caught on camera palming extra cards during one of FFG's LCG Championships.
EDIT: Here you go, guy drew extra cards for multiple turns during Conquest US Nationals finals and quarter finals.

Wow! So it wasn't in X-wing then?
Warhammer 40000: Conquest player was caught on video cheating during semi-final and final games of tournament (NA national?).
Here you go! Here's the article outlining the suspension policy.

And here's the thread with more discussion that took place when the above article first came out

Edited by ZabuzauzA guy cheated at Warhammer Conquest, at nationals I think, in order to come in first. He drew three cards instead of two, and was caught on camera doing it in multiple games. The pattern of behavior made it clear he was attempting to hide the extra draw and that it wasn't just an accident.
It was made even worse though: on a forum thread where the cheating was first exposed, he created an alternate account to advocate for himself, and then accidentally posted from the wrong account.
So far that guy is the only person on the banned list.

No, nothing to do with any game other than Conquest. That said, it earned him what amounts to a permaban from the game (Sadly, Conquest will be done by then...)
To be such a cheater that a blacklist is made up just because of you, and you are the sole occupant... yeah. I think permaban is fair.
You can't do the time, don't do the crime.
Wasn't there a case of someone fixing there damage deck for X-wing?
Yup but I don't think it was at a national or worlds event. It's also harder to prove intent even though we all know it was.
why is it so ******* hard to find a video/gif of qui gon jinn cheating Wado's chance cube in the phantom menace?

One could say he managed that. First to be banned, first on the ban list. ![]()

Several. Heard many a story about different folks doing it.
Most memorable was the guy flying a Decimator who pulled all the Direct Hits out and replaced them with crap. You decide to rig your damage deck, then fly the ship most likely to allow your list to receive multiple crits....
Pro Play:
Decimator + Determination + all Pilot crits.
See y'all on the banned list.

Yea, I'm not a fan of how easy it is for people to replace direct hits and major explosions. Wish there was some way to prevent any chance of cheating.
Players in my area usually just cut each other's decks, but it doesn't account for the possiblity of replaced cards.
I guess no one wants to start a match off by checking their opponent's dmg deck. Kind of implies that you think they're a scum bag.

So now I am in a quandary: do I start counting damage deck to be sure there are 33 cards AND verify that there are the 7 direct hits, or do I remember that 1) this is just a game, 2) that anyone who cheats at a game is a jackass and 3) that if I did find out they were cheating I might be inclined to throat punch them (so therefore given these things I just play and don't really worry about it).....

Don't count the cards. That just means that you're letting one person's douchebaggery take away a little bit of fun from every competitive game you play forever.
Instead, consider how sad and pathetic someone's life needs to be for him/her to think it's a good idea to cheat at the plastic spaceships game. Even if that person "wins", without getting caught, he/she will always know that the victory was hollow.
Even if someone is CAUGHT cheating at this kind of game, the proper response is pity rather than anger.

They won't though. People who cheat don't think that way.
At some events Judges will check damage decks. Madness in Dallas does this during the Regional events. They randomly pick a couple tables each round and check both decks. That's really all it takes. A bit of spot checking and you dramatically increase the risk for people trying to cheat.
