The Brobot list that everyone seems to play.

By Sixter, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I´m talking about the CrackShot/FCS/HLC/Glitter/Autothrusters times two list. I guess some people use A with B but most people probably use B and C. In any case, this loadout on the Brobots seems to be everywhere now.

When I used to play Brobots a year ago everyone was going on about how PS or not getting the initiative was so important in Brobots mirror, people were even going VI with a 2 pt initiative bid, mostly for the mirror match. Now, you see most people go for Crack Shot and straight100 points without a bid.

Is the new CS/Glitterstim build "The" Brobots build or is it a bandwagon kind of thing?

As ships with so many options, I think we are just seeing people experiment with the possibilities.

I've seen Wingman/Inertial Dampeners Brobots as often as I've seen Crack Shot/Glitterstim. I still personally prefer Vet Instincts/Inertial Dampeners for a bid to go before PS 8 aces.

As the meta evolves (Stress, high PS, etc.) we will see the flexible Aggressor evolve to keep up.

Funny you should say that. That's part of the logic behind developing that list. I felt like the list was capable, but my flying was sub-par. Definitely worth revisiting.

As said, BroBots have so many different options there are a lot of ways to go. They are difficult to play well, though, so definitely practice with whatever loadout you plan on using. I think HLC/Crack Shot/etc. is so popular right not because it has the ability to simply pull a ship off the board. If you've got both IG's pointed at something, that's 8 potential damage, enough to kill even a Y-Wing (which are everywhere right now). The lack of VI or an initiative bid has a lot to do with the fact that Aces are PS9-11 these days, so bumping a 'bot to 8 accomplishes nothing (6 and 8 are also the same against PS2 generics).

I'm always of the opinion that if you can't get to PS 9 then don't bother with VI. I never got the VI Brobots. Sure you can get a jump on PTL/Corran or Dash, but there aren't a lot of PS 8 aces that don't take VI.

My favorite are the predator/advanced sensor brobots B & D. I don't need VI. I can literally end up in 20 different locations and can still modify my dice pretty well. Unfortunately you can't run HLC on both, so I usually run Mangler on B. Now I might give B Ion and Tractor beam.

I get why the crackshot/glitterstim brobots are popular though. They can really put out a ton of damage in a single turn. I haven't faced them, but the combo looks really potent.

It is really potent. Probably the best alpha strike list atm. However, like all lists, it has its weaknesses. Glitterstim is a 'two-edged sword' (yes it protects you now, but stressing yourself causes problems for later) and FCS while great for offense leaves the IGs vulnerable on k-turn/s-loops.

Two of the biggest threats right now are Soontir and the Stresshog. With the ability to melt a Stresshog before it fires, or Crackshot wiggle damage through to Soontir fel via the majesty of IG-88B and FCS, it's no wonder these guys are showing up on the regular.

If only brobots could take juke. C would be an absolute BEAST.
