What do you use to track points?

By Rogue Dakotan, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

I use an app called ScoreKeeper from the Apple App Store. The paid version has a timer built in and it very much worth the $1.00. You can enter each players name and e-mail results when you're done with the game. The timer stays what you set it on last, so once you set it up for 55 minutes, it's always set to 55 minutes. I used this at World's and it didn't even drain the battery that much.

Wow, perfect! On your recommendation I just bought the app (the $0.99 version) and I love it! It does exactly what I was hoping it would do. And a very smooth interface too! It's SO much better than any Magic the Gathering app that I've tried.

Thanks so much!

Some of the players that were featured on the FFG twitch feed from worlds had some pretty cool devices to keep track of their points. Looked like sort of a fancy digital counter. Anyone know where those were from? :)

For android - I really like simple points tracker

As you can see - put it on your phone, orient it for both players and each can count up to 40. Works great.

Would love a StarWars skin or a visible timer.

Looks like it was meant for Physical Star Realms. Now I need this app!

The other day I found an old life counter dial at one of our local game shops. All dials I've found previously either went up to 100 or up to 20, but this one goes from 00-40. Perfect! Now i just need to make it look pretty.

I'm using dials that came with LoTR LCG, It looks nice too

I just use the threat dial one colour for me the other for my opponent then just go twice round. Easy to figure out if you have been round once or not due to the amount of dead on your opponents side. The difference would then be vp's from objectives.

I track score with 2 d20 die. I start with one adjusting it to display my current score. When it reaches 20 I add a second die. I actually use 2 sets / 2 different colors for a total of 4 to track both mine and my opponents score. It is good to know what your opponents score is and nice to not have to ask them.

Simple, accessible and practical.

2 six sided dice work well, and they are extremely portable.

How would that work if your score is something with a digit higher than 6, such as 19 or 28?

Not sure why this thread was necro'd after four months to mention d6s, but I suppose you could do it using a base-six system: say a 4 and a 5 would represent (4 * 6 + 5 = ) 29. You could go up to 42 that way. How that would be better than a d6 and a d10, or 2d20s, or virtually any other system imaginable is somewhat of a mystery to me though...

I used to use the threat dial but now use a d10 and a d4.

Nice and simple. I start the d10 at 0 and then add in the d4 for the 10's whilst the d10 is for Units :)

I place the mission objective card at one side of the map and whenever a group is defeated I place the deployment card on the opponent's side of the objective card for point scoring, doing the same with strain or objective tokens for points scored by other means than killing units.

I use a pair of D10s usually. But there was a company that made life/honor counters for Legend of the Five Rings and MTG that went up to 40+. I think they were called Flying Tricycle.

I use the Threat dial and add the two together.

Facedown = 0 points.
First points score on the turn tracker (green) side since it does not have a zero or a blank (points 1-20) then add the threat (orange) (points 21-40)

Face down is a good idea.... it's irritating that they couldn't squeeze a 0 on the Green dial. That would make the most logical sense.

Especially since the green turn dial goes to 20... which you'll almost NEVER use. So clearly they were thinking about the 40 point skirmish.

I use either the threat dial or a simple points tracking app.

We always used defeated deployment cards plus damage tokens for objective points. However, after reading this thread I just downloaded the Simple Points Tracker onto my phone and will try it out when we play later today!

My LOTR:LCG threat counters :)

Sorry to necromance (?) this thread, but it got me thinking a while back and my plans have come to some limited fruition.

I designed this thing and had it 3D printed:

When you put a few faction-themed D10s in it, it becomes this:

Same, I use the MTG Digital counter made by Legion.

The Ultra Pro - Dual Life Counter works very well, too.
