[Rebels] Two Ks OK?

By numb3rc, in X-Wing Squad Lists

The three K-Wing list with tacticians has become pretty prominent since worlds and Miranda Doni also appears by herself in a lot of builds. However, I haven't seen many examples of any builds with two Ks, including Miranda or otherwise.

I only own two K-Wings, so I wanted to ask the forums if there's a way to use them alongside each other that could perform well in upcoming tournaments.

I had two concepts. The first is to have two cheap TLT+Tactician Ks with an ace in the center, like so:

Warden Squadron Pilot (23)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

Tactician (2)

Warden Squadron Pilot (23)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

Tactician (2)

Poe Dameron (31)

Veteran Instincts (1)

R2-D2 (4)

Autothrusters (2)

Total: 100

The second concept is to use Miranda and a Warden Squadron with more upgrades and a lesser ship, like this:

Warden Squadron Pilot (23)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

Tactician (2)

Advanced SLAM (2)

Miranda Doni (29)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

Tactician (2)

Advanced SLAM (2)

Gray Squadron Pilot (20)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

R3-A2 (2)

BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Total: 100

Does either 2K concept have potential? I'd like to use them but if this is a dead end I can just go back to Miranda alone.

The Twin-Laser-Turret is very potent, and is one of the reasons the K-wing has merit in a competative list.

The question then become should you equip it on an Y-wing or a K-wing (I am not considering the HWK).

K-wing pro's

1. No donout hole.

2. possibility for crew - tactician among others.

Y-wing pro's

1. cheaper

2. stress-bot and title.

I certainly think your lists have potential, you should try them out and report back how your experience was.

I would probably remove the Advanced SLAM on the last list. If you SLAM you cannot attack, and since you only have once dice for defence you do not want to be in range of an attack, so since you do not have bombs, there is no real need for Advanced SLAM. Those 4 points could be used to upgrade from a Tactician to e.g. Chewbacca or C3PO, which will give your two K-wings a lot more stamina.

I have been thinking about running this exact list.

Interesting! I was looking for K centric threads and I didn't see it. It's certainly a solid list, but it remains to be seen how well I can use it.

Advanced SLAM is there to drop Target Locks for later if you need to dodge an arc. I see what you mean though.

Since the K's dial is limited, I like the control aspect of the Tactician. I also don't own a C-3P0 yet (my first store tournament-kit game is later in the month).

Still, I'll tell you how experiments go!

I haven't played around with this build much (yet) either. The K's seem pretty solid in terms of survivability - basically the same as some of the big ships (i.e. Dash) and there is always the SLAM to get you out of dodge if something goes wrong. I at least think it has some potential. It should also do fairly well against the 'Ace-meta' we have right now as the TLT is a decent counter to Fel, etc.

The K is also resistant to enemy dice mods due to its high health. Crack Shot, Juke, Omega Leader with Juke, Vader, and more all cut up the Soontirs of the world pretty badly, but the K can tank those pretty well.

Well, I tried it and I can see why two K lists aren't too common. If you have three Ks you can blanket an area in their arcs and if you have Miranda you can take risks.

With my two I never did get the Tacticians to trigger. I tried to flank around the side and ended up mostly shooting out of arc.

They're fun to fly, but clearly you have to be more aggressive initially to get the Tacticians to trigger. I've been watching that 3K list at worlds and that seems to be the main takeaway.

On the plus side, they're stress-resistant and ate two Ys and a Z alive, so that's a plus. They just can't chew through Poe very effectively if he slips the net without getting stressed.

Here is a list I´m dying to try:

Warden/TLT/Tactician

Warden/TLT/Tactician

Gold Sq/TLT/R3-A2/Title

Bandit

What I like about this list is that it can joust against most lists (it jousts much better than 2Ks with Poe). You can experiment with the formation so that your "stress zones" cover the most ground. You have the stress hog in there to compliment the 2 Ks in that regard.

I have previously tried a somewhat simular concept (2 Bs with tacticians, a gold-TLT plus a stresshog), but I think the 2K-build is stronger because you have two TLT turrets to capitalize on actionless aces. The Ks are also more immune to stress themselves because they don´t have to K-turn like the Bs.

The 2x Warden, Stresshog, Bandit list did indeed win a 40-people tournament in the US last weekend. I knew I read about it somewhere but I couldn´t find the tournament until now.

I'm thinking of running:

Warden + autoblaster + tactician x2

Corran + R2-D2 + PTL + FCS

Total = 98 points

I'm torn on an initiative bid or a flachette torp on Horn. The Wardens stress on approach then block/ go for range 1 autoblaster hits.
