FFG Clear Sleeves for Cards

By HoodieDM, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hi,

I Seen that FFG offers clear card sleeves for the products. Which sizes are recommended that fit the product for Imperial Assault (primarily for the campaign)??

Thanks,

~D

I personally don't bother with card sleeves, I plastify all my cards that i use often. I think it gives the cards a better finish and better protection over time then sleeves. You can buy a really cheap plastifiying machine at waltmart for about 30$

Check the back of the boxes, there's a color code and the number of said sleeves you'll need. For IA it's the FFG Green and Yellow sleeves

It's the Green and Yellow packs for IA. All FFG products list the appropriate color and quantity of sleeve packs on the boxes or in the rules.

Sometimes that's skewed in the small things like Ally/Villain packs, but the large boxes usually use the quantities listed without much waste.

Same info available from the product pages: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/star-wars-imperial-assault/products/star-wars-imperial-assault-core-set/

Yup, if you start to buy the ally/villain packs you'll definitely need more of the small sleeves.

Yellow and green for sure. As for the large hero cards, I don't think FFG has sleeves for these but I recall someone posted something on this forum about finding one that Fits

I bought these , though they're OOS on both amazon and Swan's website. They fit with the card going into the 128mm side, so you'll have a lot of extra plastic up top that took care of with a paper cutter.

Anyone know of a place to get the sleeves from within Canada?

I use mayday game sleeves for mine because they are cheaper. I also use swan sleeves for the character cards. Here is the link http://www.swanpanasiasleeves.com/products/swan-card-sleeves-103x128-100-pack-thin-sleeves-talisman-character-cards

they fit perfectly over them. Plus you will have plenty for future expansions that will be released.

Yes, Mayday sleeves are cheaper in both cost and quality, but YMMV.

For Hero character sheets, just find your neared "Fedex Office"

For like ~$6 you can permanently laminate them into hard plastic sheets.

You can't compare mayday and ffg sleeves. The quality divide is immense. For storage, mayday is fine, but if you plan on making a shuffleanble deck out of the cards, your gonna need quality.

Sorry I try to help someone save a few bucks. I have played with mayday games and have not had any problems with them.

I like how the mayday sleeves feel but I think the FFG ones will be more durable over time. My buddy uses the mayday ones for his command cards for awhile now with no issues (it makes me wonder if I should've gone that route as well). I don't see a problem of trying to save a few bucks at all if you want

For me its the edge. Mayday edges tend to roll or wrinkle. If I'm shuffling I need a much harder edge.

Why do you even need the sleeves? It just seems like an unnecessary purchase to me. The cards are pretty tough as is.

Deployment and Mission cards must remain unaltered, though they may be sleeved for protection. Command cards must be sleeved, and their sleeves must be identical and unaltered.

I prefer to have/keep all my cards sleeved but that's a personal preference. Since you are shuffling the command decks (like the Damage Decks in X-Wing/Armada) it makes good sense to protect them from wear and tear. The rest is just for your own sake

No matter how sturdy cards eventually wear out plus accidents happen. I'd rather protect my purchases. I never use unsleeved cards in any game.

unlike most FFG products the card stocks used for IA are pretty good. but i still sleeve them because i'm a freak

I prefer sleeves as there is always someone that is clumsy. Plus to me they look better. To each their own I guess.

Let your freak-flag fly!

It's all about protection from accidental spills, greasy fingers, and the schmutz that simply accumulates over time.

also deployment cards are constantly turned to mark activation so that friction will wear cards.
