Wave 3 will be announced in April

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

except that C.P. Is now the president.

It's true, all of it. The lack of Lyraeus copy/paste. The missing Super Star Destroyer comments. The absence of whining about wave 3 speculation/updates. They're real.

That being said, I'd hope they have something in between now and April, even if it's just a strategy article. If not, oh well.

It's just what I've put together based on everything they have publicly stated.

Starting in April, the regulations kick in for online retailers. (retailers could pre-sell preorders early if something was announced now)

Starting in April, the merger happens.

Starting in April, Adepticon happens.

Starting in April, we'll otherwise have nothing new for any game at all.... And FFG ALWAYS has new stuff on the horizon....

So I'm just putting the pieces together.

FFG has been known to wait on release news until specific dates like they did for one of the X-Wing waves on May 4th.

This is also something Asmodee would do.

Can't help but think this is some elaborate set up for an April fools prank...

I'll be at Adepticon at opening day, so hopefully I can confirm/deny if this is true. The logic is sound, though, even if it's just conjecture.

Now if the first week of April comes and goes without news...... you can expect "The Sky is Falling" threads to resume in full capacity.

Merger seems to be the wrong word for it given that the terms seem to be more an acquisition of FFG by Asmodee.

It was spun as a merger at the time, but even back then it looked a lot more like a buyout.

Another factor to keep in mind, Chinese New Year just started. In past years this has caused major, MAJOR delays in getting product manufactured and out the door. It may simply be that they don't want to announce anything before they are certain about the timeline for manufacturing this this year.

That's a VERY good point. Still I'd wager that Wave 3, as well as some other products like future IA stuff are already at the printer. They've GOT to have been printing something in January!

That being said, if everything sold at MSRP my purchases would dry up considerably.

For X-Wing the cost of Wave 8 online has gone up slightly. Instead of a 33% discount, there's 25% discount over MSRP.

FWITW, that means X-Wing and Armada are still the most heavily discounted game out there. Most other miniature games get 10-15% discounts only.

If the discount went that low, I'd be forced to chose between the two games (most likely). Disposable income only stretches so far.

No fault of FFG, but if I've only got $50/mo to spend on Prack©, I'll have to work with whatever I've got.

I do think there might be a problem with that view when looking at Imperial Veterans for X-wing. It will most likely not come out until after April 1st (still "In Development") and it is available on MM for preorder at 25% off. It seems that it was announced before the new regulations announcement, but the difference seems like only a few days. However, that might just be wishful thinking on my part.

$600 a year gets you close

If the price goes up, Wave 3 better have some reeeeeeeeal good stuff in it.

I'd be rather disappointed if it was a Force Awakens box...when in all reality most of us would rather a Clone Wars expansion.

Shhh.... Don't remind me how much I'm spending on my hobby between the product itself and the travel expenses to find Armada tournaments!!!! (The turnpike to get to most events is $25 itself)

Honestly, I don't know how much I'm spending. I'm definitely all in for Armada, but X Wing is more of a trickle up the waves sort of thing for me. I'll never spend money I don't have on it. So those weeks with 4+ hrs of OT end up being my most prominent weeks of spending. And honestly, business is keeping me late alot!

Although I suspect whenever I have a kid in the next few years, my investment in these games will flat out disappear.

The priorities shift, that's for sure... And so far, for me, its a few years of minimalist... But try to keep in mind you're doing the ultimate Recruitment mission :D

Featuring the BATTLE OF THE TRANSPORTS!!!

Stormtrooper transport vs resistance transport. No dice. Just banging the bases together. Wave 1 will include the finalizer and Starkiller base. And a super star destroyer. And then, card packs for starkiller base titles: "Starkiller base- slightly snowier version" being the one to buy it for.

A Clone Wars expansion? Come again? No thank you.

It should be pretty obvious what wave 3 is going to be at this point. Rebels KEEPS putting out new ships left and right, so I am pretty certain that it's going to be a SW Rebels wave 3. Pelta, Arquittens, Interdictor, Hammerhead, maybe even the Ghost, Inquisitor TIE, Gozanti, etc.

No winged Mon Cal...cmon that is a given.

No winged Mon Cal...cmon that is a given.

This is what I'm hopeing for. The quaser carrier and interdictor that are now canon again thanks to rebels so those could be easy to add.

Alright, I'm calling it now. Wave 3 will be:

Imperial:

Escort Carrier (the flying box one from X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter)

Interdictor - but it'll be on a medium base.

Imperial Specialists - Fighter pack with two of each of: Lambda Shuttle, VT-49 Decimator, TIE Punisher, Defender Squadron

Rebel:

Winged Mon Cal OR MC40 (also from X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter)

Quasar Carrier

Rebel Agents - Fighter Pack with four Z-95 Squadrons, and two of each of E-Wing Squadron, K-Wing.

I'm not so sure on the Rebels because I really don't care, I just want more angry triangles.

I'm pretty sure we'll see the broadside cruiser, the strange rebel bird of prey thingy and most likely the Acclamator.

Only reason is because they brought in that fugly birdy Mk 2

....that I just ordered

Plus side: if you display the AFmkII next to the star wars egg-force action figures, it kinda matches. But it's still uglier.

I still love my Space Whales.

Actually having a small child is like being on a permanent escort mission in an RPG...the minute you lose track of your npc it will find some stupid way to try and kill itself.
