Looking for stat ideas: Tony Stark/Iron Man Nemesis

By kingpin000, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Hi there,

for a villian Nemesis I am planning to create one who is based on Tony Stark but he is Starship/Airspeeder Designer. Which characteristics, skills and talents would you suggest?

I am also toying with the idea of the Suit (more likely with the War Machine suit) which is probably more a vehicle than a power armor. Any advices about this?

Well it depends on whether you want to design this as a PC before adding the traits he'd have as a Nemesis.

Intellect at least 3 but can reach 4 or 5 but that might be better demonstrated if he survives contact with the PCs!

Gadgeteer career from the Edge book, maybe even Artisan as well from the F&D book to explain why its he's that terrifying!

There's a new technician book out soon isn't there?

Have they revealed the Darktrooper yet in any of the books?

Built-in shielding maybe consider its actually something like the Hulkbuster with a secondary suit in case it's outer shell is heavily damaged and I'd recommend a Veronica so he can summon a replacement suit from orbit in case he needs it or can't walk around in his powered armour and then there's the Iron Legion maybe droids encased in a modified armour just to highlight just how powerful this nemesis really is!

Sounds like old Doc Llalik...

Exact stats will vary depending on your encounter goals... Offhand, if you want him in combat with the PCs the idea would probably be to have the ability to solo them. So you're talking a WT in the 20s or maybe even 30s. Powered armor in this system generally means +3 Soak or better, so this guy will likely have a Soak in the 5-6 range minimum, plus 2ish or better defenses. Jetpack Rocketpack of course...you could make a custom speed 3 version (and give the doc full throttle) if you want him to fight off starfighters... Don't forget tricked out physical countermeasures though, as if the fighters miss, the missile's Sil 0 will give it quite the advantage....Resist the urge to make it an actual vehicle, as doing so makes it vulnerable to ion damage (unless you want it to be of course).

For weapons, go for a wide spread of whatever you feel appropriate. A good option would be a grenade launcher that allows the operator to select from a wide array of grenades, the idea being he'll be able to apply all different kinds of effects on the players by rapidly switching to ion, glop, concussion, gas, AP whatever. A disruptor type weapon would make quick work of light vehicles, and a pair of missiles in a vertical launch tube on the back would allow him to threaten heavier vehicles. Make it special missiles with Vicious 5+ if you want to go for "tank missile." Don't forget to add lots of "ignore setbacks" gadgets and such since you probably don't want him having issues with darkness/smoke/ect.

If you want to go full-ironman, add a Jarvis system that works like an astromech.

For the character, focus on Int and Agility (say 4-5 in each). Dont worry about Brawn, just have the suit boost it. A couple ranks in adversary of course, gunnery/Ranged light& heavy, mechanics, computers, piloting..maybe something else.

Watch yourself on things like Talents, as this is the kind of character that can get a lot of Talent bloat. The armor will likely kick in a few combat focused ones like snipershot, but don't bother with much else, especially utility talents like jury rigged or tinkerer, just apply the stat adjustments directly to the gear.

That Mandalorian one still has a very Star Wars aesthetic to it. I could defonitely fashion a nemesis out of that.
