Engineering command

Hey guys, I have a few questions regarding the Engineering command.

1. When i flip the dial and resolve the command, do I have to spend the engineering points right away, or can I wait until the end of that ship activation to use them?

2. If i decide to convert the command to a token instead, can I use that token anytime during that ship activation?

1. You must spend them immediately or they are lost.

2. No. The engineering command (dial or token) must be resolved when you reveal your dial.
