Forget planes. Let's just go straight to teleportation. Poof...no more compaining about rowboats

So, I guess what FFG should do then is not give us status updates at all. When you see the product on the shelves, it is there. Problem solved!
They might like to, but it's apparent that their business model requires lots of advance notice to drum up interest and drive preorders so they have an idea how much to print. So, I guess what FFG should do then is not give us status updates at all. My response was more that if you don't like it the way it is, it could be a lot worse. You do bring up a good point about preorders though. And I'm going to probably be in a minority for this, because I buy it when it is available. I do like seeing what is coming and being able to talk about it and test it out on Vassal, but I don't pre-order. I just check on the ships I'm interested in regularly on several sites... cause I know my local Hastings is not going to be on the front edge of any stock issues.
Impossible to ever expect a solid timeline when you're producing the product in China. Wizards does what they are able to do because they plan things out years in advance. I feel like wave nine is probably still in R&D. It's just what we have to deal with.
If they could only install a hyperdrive on that boat...
I kind of wish FFG would just do what GW does: Announce the product a week before it hits shelves.
But, then you get the crazy periods when there is no news. A bunch of sky is falling threads.
Nah, you get months of speculation, and false confirmations, and fakes, and packaging leaks and people complaining that GW should do earlier announcements. GW rumors are so bad most 40K forums have specific subforums for Rumors and News to contain the chatter.
The lack of solid, reliable release dates has affected my purchase decisions though. I buy less since I can't really plan a visit to my flgs to buy. I just find out the ships are finally available and buy them whenever is convenient.
Also imagine the ability of stores to host release events. That would be great.

At this point wave 9 is in playtesting and likely ready to be sent to the printer. Alex and/or Frank said that it's about 18 months from concept to printer for each wave.

or some Guns for the Boat
I just buy things when they hit the stores. I think they announce a tad premature, but that is their prerogative. Maybe that is because I mostly play with what I have. No proxies or whatnot.
That being said. Please get Imperial Veterans on the boat ASAP.
You obviously have no idea of the cost of air transport vs ships, especially in the high volumes FFG uses.
Weight isn't the issue, the miniatures weigh next to nothing, but they do require a lot of volume and then the costs rise astronomically.
Stop whining about how long it takes, it's been hardly three months since they first went to the factory.
Your right, I don't know the costs involved which is why I asked the question. Im thinking they wouldn't need to transport all of them at the same time, obviously a plane is a lot smaller than a boat so they could break up the shipments. Not sure if that would be cheaper or more expensive again I don't know the costs associated. Also it just seems like this wave is taking forever like others have said because the previews of them was out a long time ago so it makes it seem like it takes longer.
Does a standard shipping container even fit on your typical freight plane? I'm guessing you could load, maybe even two, on some of the jumbo transports but no way is that going to be a cost effective method of transport.
If you don't think your new toys are coming fast enough I think prudent advice would be to curb your expectations. The new toys will arrive when they get here. Now I will admit that if I preorder something and get charged for it up front I wait far less patiently than if I've still got my money but to me that issue is more on the sellers than in is on FFG.
I think they should use a missile to ship everything.
30 minutes right? Take that Amazon Prime.
"When will ffg use a plane instead of a row boat?"

Let's look at some data.

Wave 5 took 166 days.
