ABXY

By Effenhoog, in X-Wing

It's been a while since ABXY has really been popular (was it ever?), and common knowledge might dictate that it's a thing of the past. Still, if you were to run it, how would you set it up?

Here is mine, it was not really intentional that they all cost 25 points:

Green Squadron Pilot (19)
Push the Limit (3)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Outmaneuver (3)
Autothrusters (2)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Advanced Sensors (3)

Tarn Mison (23)
R7 Astromech (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)

Gold Squadron Pilot (18)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
R2 Astromech (1)

Total: 100

I could easily see changing the B-wing to something like tactician or accurracy corrector

Box of tricks:

Green Squadron Pilot (19)
Juke (2)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
Dagger Squadron Pilot (24)
Fire-Control System (2)
Tractor Beam (1)
"Hobbie" Klivian (25)
R3-A2 (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Gold Squadron Pilot (18)
Dorsal Turret (3)
R2 Astromech (1)
Total: 100
You are aware of the squad building forum I assume? ;).

I actually intended to put this in the squad forum, looks like i clicked the wrong tab. RIP

Hey, at least it's better than yet another "where's my preview" topic, so let's enjoy it!

Stress not bot. I think Tarn, stresshog, blue and green could be semi not terrible.

Edit- phone autocorrect.

I'd probably run AC or FCS on the B, but I like it.

Personally, I'd swap out Advanced Sensors for FCS, then use your spare point to upgrade to a Stresshog.

Wait, where's my preview?!

It's the linear regression squadron: Y = AX + B.

Lose adv sensors in the blue to make up for it.

Three jousters and an ace: might have trouble against palpmobile aces, but you've enough tools in the box and dakka on the table to deal with most else.

Started a thread last week or so about what is the best squad with all the Rebel fighters from the OT. Stresshog is too good not to include. Tarn (with R7) is probably the best choice for a T-65. This leaves enough points for a Loaded Greenie and your choice of system upgrade on the B-wing. You can squeeze in Jake but you have to lose something important to do so.

For when you want some higher pilot skill:

Gray squadron pilot 28

TLT

R3-A2

BTL-A4

Dagger squadron pilot 29

FCS

b-wing/E2

Jan Ors

Tarn Mison 25

R7 astro

Integrated astro

Prototype pilot 17

Refit

Autothrusters

Total 99 (can switch FCS for advanced sensors on b wing if you like it more or take the initiative bid)

Blue Novice+R3-A2+IA

Blue Sqd+FCS

Gold+TLT

Green+Prockets+PTL+Wired

Or

Blue Novice+R3-A2+IA

Blue Sqd+FCS+E2+Tactician

Gold+TLT

Green+Refit+PTL+Wired+Autothrusters

More stress in the second build makes enemy ships easier to hit, but that Procket is one heck of a punch in the face!

Prototype Pilot (17)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

Autothrusters (2)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Fire-Control System (2)

Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

R3-A2 (2)

BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Biggs Darklighter (25)

R4-D6 (1)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Prototype Pilot blocks and gets in their face while Biggs protects your two MVPs. While they're burning down Biggs, the Stresshog and the B-Wing with FCS and HLC get some serious work done.

After Biggs explodes, your opponent is faced with the daunting task of deciding which remaining 8HP ship is the bigger threat, then they have to deal with that threat all while the A-Wing is buzzing about their face.

I was happy to find this all fits, though probably worth dropping VI for R2-D2:

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Prototype Pilot (15)
A-Wing (17), Chardaan Refit (-2)

Poe Dameron (37)
T-70 X-Wing (31), R5-P9 (3), Veteran Instincts (1), Autothrusters (2)

Gold Squadron Pilot (26)
Y-Wing (18), BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0), R3-A2 (2), Twin Laser Turret (6)

I like this list a lot actually and I think R5-P9 is a better fit for Poe. I'd remove the Title from the Gold (and the R3) and give Blue a FCS.

I ran this in my first Store Championship last Saturday:

B-wing: Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Y-wing: Gold Squadron Pilot (18 + 7)
+ Ion Cannon Turret (5)
+ R3-A2 (2)
+ BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

X-wing: Tarn Mison (23 + 2)
+ R7 Astromech (2)
+ Integrated Astromech (0)

A-Wing: Jake Farrell (24 + 4)
+ Veteran Instincts (1)
+ Chardaan Refit (-2)
+ A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
+ Autothrusters (2)
+ Push the Limit (3)

I went 3-2, the quad TLT list gave me the most trouble (partly thanks to cold dice, probably mostly because it's the first time I'd flown against that). Haven't tried it against Palp Aces, Fat Han, or RAC yet (can't remember if I tested it against Poe).
