Fleet sizes?

By CDAT, in Star Wars: Armada

After reading the post asking how Armada is going in you area, I was wondering what is the typical fleet sizes of people?

By this I mean in my area we have about six to eight players, however only six have fleets the other two borrow stuff to play. Of the six who have fleets

Player 1: Empire only has 1 VSD, 1 GSD, 2 Raider, 1 Fighter pack.

Player 2: Rebel only Has 2 Guppy, 1 Fighter pack.
Player 3: Empire only has 3 ISD, 3 VSD, 3 GSD, 3 Raider, 6 Fighter pack, 2 Rogue pack.
Player 4: Rebel only has 2 Mon-80, 3 Guppy, 4 Neb-B, 4 Corvette, 1 Shrimp, 3 fighter pack, 2 Rogue pack
Player 5 Both (store owner), 3 ISD, 3 VSD, 3 GSD, 3 Radier, 3 Mon-80, 3 Guppy, 4 Neb-B, 4 Corvette, 2 Shrimp, 3 each fighter pack, 3 Rogue pack.
Player 6 Rebel only, Guppy, 2 Neb-B, 2 Corvette, Fighter Pack, Rogue pack.

So like I was saying just wondering what people have, as can be seen several do not have enough to make legal fleets, and some do not have anything so they end up borrowing from those who have more.

1x ISD, 2x GSD, 2x VSD, 2x Raider

4x AFII, 6x CR90, 4x Neb B, 1x MC80, 4x MC30

2 pickles, 1 whale, 2 shrimp, 2 nebs, 2 cr90s, 2 fighter packs, 2 rouges halves.

looking for a raider and an imp villain half

1 Imperial
2 Victory
1 Gladiator
1 Raider
3 Imperial Fighters

2 Rogues and Villains

2 MC80

2 AFMK-II

1 MC30c
3 Nebulon
2 CR90
3 Rebel Fighters

I trade/ebay. A lot. And I like weird skew lists. I decided to figure out the minimum number of points I could field for each faction: if I remove the squadron cap, it's about 1300 of rebs and 800 of imps.

2 mc80, 2 mc30, 5 neb-b's, 6 cr-90's, 4 a-wing, 4 b-wing, 8 y-wing, 8 x-wing, 8 YT-2400, 6 H6, 2 YT-1300, 2 HWK-290's

AND NO UGLY ASSAULT FRIGATES!!!!!

2 ISD, 1 VSD, 2 GSD, 1 RDR, 8 ln, 8 sa, 2 int, 2 adv, 5 Firesprays, 2 aggressors, 2 jmp masters, 2 yv-666's.

I may or may not try a raider swarm- I might wait for Black Friday for that one or a bizarre amazon sale (how I got my CR90's). I have less points of imps, not because I prefer rebs, but because the ISD's are that awesome.

I play with 550-700 points so I own three of everything but ISD and MC80. Those I have two of.

I can't recommend enough having extra movement tools wi just 2 and 3 sections. Makes the game with some many ships less bumpy. Also use 3D asteriods and put vinyl cutout under so I can remove the asteroids which look great but get in the way.

I just don't feel 400 points is Armada personally. If eu ever got it up to 500 points I would start playing tournaments but until then, unlikely, I'll stick to fleet battles instead of small skirmishes. 2 VSDs 2 Glads and and ISD vs two MC80s, AF, MC30 and a neb b with 9-11 squdron son a 3x6 playing surface on a 4x6 table feels right and epic, like "my" idea of Armada was meant to be. Unfortunately, I can't really come here to learn much because everyone is so obsessed with focusing on talkin about their competitive tournament builds. Too bad there was not a separate forum for us casual players who focus on 500, 600, and 700 points. Ceste la vie

One thing I appreciate about 400 though, it doesn't seem so daunting to get started in the game price wise. Also, it doesn't take me 8 hours to play a game.

In my heyday of geek-dom, my 40k assets were over 2,000 (and because of that, I kept feeling obliged to buy whatever crappy rules revision GW decided to pump out)...

Anyone here remember 40k 2nd edition, waiting about 45 minutes for your IG or Ork opponent to move and shoot? I do!

In hindsight, I should have used the money to buy an aimpoint and more ammo. Wait a minute, wrong hobby.

Oh god. My Prack list. It hurts my brain to even think of it all but let me try...

Imperial:

3x ISD

4x VSD

4x GSD

5x Raider

3x Imp fighters

Rebel

2x MC80

3 or 4 x MC30 (honestly can't remember atm)

4 or 5 x Neb B

7 x Corvette

4 x AFMKII

4 x Reb fighters

4.5x Rogues and villains (.5 is extra villains)

plus a preponderance of dice, movement tools, after-market rulers, trays, mats.

Prack Prack Prack

Imperial's 27th Fleet -

  • x2 ISD
  • x2 VSD
  • x3 GSD
  • x2 RSD
  • x4TIE-In, TIE-Bomber, TIE-Adv
  • x1 Rouges and Villains

Rebel's 2nd Battle Fleet -

  • x1 MC 80
  • x2 MC 30, NebB, CR 90
  • x1 AF2
  • x2 A-, B-, Y-
  • x8 X-
  • x1 Rogues and Villains

Seems like the 2nd Battle Fleet needs to be beefed up...

Plus 20 Shapeways ships & 40+ Shapeways squadrons.

I play 400 pt games at the local FLGS, or as a quick game at home. For more plastic fleet goodness, we often play games 500-1400 points.

I still need to track down 2-3 more R&V packs (out of stock at FLGS), and maybe 4 more CR90s, if I ever get the urge to run a vette swarm, but so far, I like the big boys too much.

I have what I consider moderate amounts.
I have

1 ISD

1 VSD

2 Glad

1 Raider

2 Squads

1 CR90

1 Neb

2 AFMK2

1 MC30

1 MC80

2 Squads

2 R and V

Reb:

1x MC-80

1x AFMkII

2x MC-30

2x Neb-B

2x CR-90

4x Rebel Fighter Packs, plus X-wings from starter

Imp:

1x ISD

2x VSD (One with broken antenna, now only used as VSD-II)

3x GSD

2x Raider

4x Imperial Fighter Packs, plus TIEs from starter

2x Rogues & Villains

Trying very hard not to go into my "fleet-building mode" (ie: buying ships based on what I'd put in an actual naval fleet) when collecting this stuff. It's bad. My wallet has resorted to holding me at knife-point as I pass by the FLGS.

2 ISD

3 VSD

2 GSD

4 Raiders

2 packs Imperial Fighters + TIE fighters from 2 core sets

1 Pack Rogues and Villains

5 CR90

3 Nebulon B

2 AF Mk2

2 MC30

1 MC80

2 packs Rebel Fighters plus X-Wings from 2 core sets

I supply for friends thus far so try to have options. Still trying to develop a community.

2x AF1 type V

1x AF1 type VI

4x MC30

Ewok snowball

Empire:

1 ISD

3 VSD

3 GSD

3 Raider

2 Empire squad pack

Rebellion:

1 MC80

1 AF Mk. 2

3 MC30c

3 Nebulon-B

3 CR90

1 Rebellion squad pack

Both:

2 Rogues and villain squad pack

The players in my community (i.e. the two others...) have a similar amount, although not quite as much as I do (unless they've bought some more stuff recently).

Edited by Viper Jr.

I own one of everything, other than the R&V fighter pack... Which I hear calling to me every time I go to play Armada.

But of the other 3 people who play, 2 can just manage a 400 point list and the other guy has only bought Rebel stuff.
