Fenn Ability - Lone Wolf - Recover Health?

By thiagolbahia, in Imperial Assault Campaign

If Fenn has 0 strain on him. Do the Lone Wolf Ability make him recover 1hp?

Thanks.

Yes.

Yes.

RRG pg. 22.

Recover

"If a hero recovers more strain than he has suffered, he recovers one damage for each strain he cannot recover."

Heroes can use surges on their weapon attack results to recover damage if they don't have any strain as well.

Wait...what...you guys are serious? I thought the only ways for heroes to regain health was from a rest action or by an item card...

Well...this sure has been an interesting year so far with the RRG

Want your mind to be blown even more? If you get Adrenaline Rush for Fenn, you can use it after being attacked and if you have no strain, you heal all the damage, early in the campaign this can cancel entire attacks. It's an attribute check so it doesn't always work, but when it does, oh so frustrating for the Imperial player.

Adrenaline Rush with The Ways of the Force is a nice combo to relatively reliably recover 2 damage.

(Or if Diala has Force Adept and can spare the strain.)

I wonder if we should tell DerangedShadow about the ability to spend up to one surge per attack to recover 1 strain. (Campaign only, rebel heroes only)

Nah, let's wait for her head to grow back first, watch it blow up again.

Does not surprise me one bit that I never thought about using a surge to recover a strain...oh look I have no strain, let me just take this health chip off instead.

I am going back home and just pouring over that RRG again. So many missed rules that dramatically change most of the missions that my group has played with the campaigns.

Hey, what about Gideon's "Rallying shout"?

Same thing

So.. why doesn't the card state this? It reads more like if you have stress then you can use this and if you don't have stress, you can't use this.

Because it is a universal rule of the game, as quoted above, so it is not needed.

If someone rolls an evade can you still use that surge to recover a strain? Does the evade only negate it for offensive purposes?

No, an evade cancels a surge. It can't be then spent for anything because it has been removed by the time you enter the Spend Surges step.

(But you can spend surges even when the defender rolls a dodge. A clever player won't trigger effects that you can't benefit from though - blast, cleave, and conditions, which require the target to suffer damage. But recovering strain and any other surge effect can be benefited from.)

If someone rolls a DODGE (also known as "Xavier", or "Professor" as it looks like the X-Men Symbol) on the white die, you may still use uncancelled surges to recover. Evades will cancel surges.
