Asokn's Painting

By Asokn, in Imperial Assault Painting and Modification

Hello,

Like many on the forum I've been painting up my miniatures and I thought I'd use this thread as a sort of progress blog and place to get feedback on my work. However, I've failed at the first stage because I can not work out how to upload images to my post! Can anyone help?

Thanks

go to http://imgur.com/

upload your images.

Once you do that come back here and start a post.

In the editing tools in the text editor, there is a button that looks like a little picture. (sort of underneath the smiley button).

Find the image on Imgur you want to add, right click and select, copy image address, or copy image URL, or whatever your browser says.

In the text editor for your post, click that little picture button and paste in the image URL.

Repeat for each image.

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully this is a picture of my Kayn Somos:

Well, that worked! I'll post up more as a I go.

My elite stormtroopers:

nice!

Nice and clean. Great work!

Thanks,

Thanks, I think the key to the stormtroopers is just being patient enough to apply three coats of white. The first two always end up looking patchy and it's not until the third that the finish starts to appear. It is difficult to keep going with them when there are so many other , more fun, models to paint though!

STORMIES!.....awesome werk!!

Really very nice and clean. I like the varnish on the white areas - makes them pop. And the base work is solid.

Very shiny! I like the glossy finish... what are you using? Glosscoat? Gloss medium mixed w/paint? Inquiring minds would like to know.

It's Games Workshop's 'Ard Coat, a brush on gloss. I usually give each model a matte spray first and then gloss specific parts like armour to give it am extra shine.

And from a different angle:

Really like the clean finish on Jyn.That along with the shading really makes the figure look great! :D

Nice work!

Going back over this thread... there was something bothering me but I couldn't quite put my finger on it until...

I got it!

You've painted the Stormtroopers' gloves white, and missed the dark gray stripe across their brows!

Just a constructive note!

Thanks for the feedback. To be honest I'd never noticed the gloves were mostly black in the films. I did see it with Kayn's art and assumed it was just to add more differentiation between him and other stormtroopers!

As for the line across the brow, I'm not sure what you mean. Do you have a picture?

Great work !

The white you've painted looks incredibly clean. It's a tough color to work with, you've done well.

For the dark stripe across the brow, simply look at some Storm Trooper images, the band that goes above their eyes is "supposed to" be black.

Yours are white. It's an extremely small nitpick.. I missed it two on my initial 9 I did from the coreset.. oops.

Much peace,

Malev

Ah,I see! Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to keep them as they are but it might help some others who are yet to paint theirs.

A couple of Gideon, I really enjoyed painting him. It was a lot of fun to work with a model that has so much movement in the sculpt and I think I just about managed to do the eyes properly without him looking too crazy!

So I'm working my way through R2d2 and can't quite seem to get it right. Does anyone have any good guides for painting this particular model?

Well, I did the best I could! Here he is:

And here are the best pair in all of Star Wars:
