Dumbest Move You Ever Made?

By Boba Rick, in X-Wing

Testing out the A-Wing from Rebel Aces, I was flyingJake Farrell, looping around the edge of the map to flank my opponent's force. On a complete brain-fart, I hard-turned left instead of right and Jake flew right off of the map and out of the game. So now it's a running gag in my group that Jake is a drunk.

In the SC final flew a brobot the wrong way onto a rock facing the table edge in the opening engagement. Apparently right and left are things. Different things.

For me I think it was selecting a red maneuver when my ship already had stress for the second time in the same game.

Getting together with my wife's girlfriend. And running my brobots onto rocks 4 times and trying to do red moves already stressed 2 times in the same game.

It's funny, that's a thing in our group too. Our group call him a drunk because in an epic game the guy controlling Jake never once did a straight manoeuvre. Whole game just zig zagging across the board

Sending one Tie left while the rest of the swarm went right. Not a strategic move or anything, just a nice brain fart.

Assigned a straight green to Poe to regen a shield with R2D2, completely forgetting that he had a Shaken Pilot crit. My opponent gave him a turn that put him right in front of two of his ships, and that was that.

I use the critical hit tokens every time now :).

Last game of my first tournament - playing for 2nd place, time gets called so we're in the final turn of the game - I had a relatively unscathed Chewie and Leebo on 1 Hull against Fat Han with 2 hull left.

Han rolled Hit-Crit - Leebo rolled 1 Evade but had an evade token - I brain-farted, thinking that Han's gunner would trigger if I took the crit and tried to use determination to discard it - so I figured I had no choice but to spend the evade and risk the gunner shot anyway.

Gunner triggered and squeezed one damage through to finish Leebo off - Chewie Rolls 4 hits, my opponent guesses 1 evade with threepio - gets it - combines that with his evade token, takes just one damage and survives with 1 hull to spare

At that point I realised that if I had taken the crit and Leebomination-ed it it still would have counted as me being hit and gunner would not have triggered, so it would have been in my interest to use Leebomination on it after all - just to punish myself I flip the damage card I was dealt and it was a pilot crit

ah yes...

last night, flew an unscathed Whisper off the board, didn't get a shot off...

*sigh*

"Dance whisper...Danc...D'oh!"

K-Turned my Defender off an asteroid. The following round, K-Turned my Defender back onto the asteroid.

"I came in like a wrecking ball!!!" :P

I'm not saying that this is the dumbest move, but I have done a Talon Roll through a debris field to pile on some stress onto my T-70.

Talon Roll with Ello, having momentarily forgotten the rules of how to Talon Roll. When I set the dial, I expected it to just place the 3 turn, and line the nubs of the base back up on the other side. When I revealed it, I snapped back to reality and placed him correctly, and realised I had just given up a perfect defilade position for a non-existant enfilade, and rendered more Ello redundant for the next two turns.

Dumbest move I ever made?

Started playing this game! My wallet is still complaining! ;)

I think it's gotta be round 6 of the most recent store championship. Sitting at 14th place and with a win I'd secure my entry into the Top 16. Playing a guy I have played quite often Soontir and RAC vs my palp aces. My opponent normally plays his soontir super aggressively so expecting that he'd push soontir up to get a shot on my Palp shuttle and noticing that my soontir is about a 6 forward away I set a 3k. he does a 2 forward and just focuses. I kturn right in front of him and soontir goes down in the first round of firing.

After the match he told me he was tired and simply forgot that he hadn't boosted/barrell rolled to get a R1 shot on the shuttle out of it's arc. So not sure if it was stupid or not but it sure felt like it at the time.
