Dumbest Move You Ever Made?

By Boba Rick, in X-Wing

I decloaked, barrel-rolled to the right, and then did a gentle bank into a proximity mine and got blown up.

Did a turn off the board with a full health soontir. Didnt think i was anywhere near the edge, let my opponent make the move. I trust him, it just makes it more painful to accept.

My latest big blunder was flying an unharmed Whisper off the board. I counted 4 shipbases to the edge and wanted to do a 3 k-turn... alas when I turned my dial the 4 k-turn was grinning at me. I take a small pride in the fact that a 3 k-turn would have fit...

My last 3 games at least.

All dumb moves :(

Store Championships last year. Finals. I was flying Chewie/Leebo. Got Leebo into a corner, took stress from rebel captive. Next turn forgot I had stress, did a hard 1 and planned to barrel roll back to be safe for next turn but couldn't. Flew ship off board next turn.

I've flown off the board a few times back in the day, pretty much the worst you can get lol

Getting married...

Oh Wait! In game.

First game I ever played I was doing K-turns wrong, I was doing them the B5 way (moving backwards)

I was flying a Defender/2 Advanced list against a pre-T70 pack three mixed X-Wing list. I had aced everyone but Poe. However, in my haste to end the game, I slammed a one hull Vessery into a rock. I then accidentally flew Mareek into Poe's lasers. Let's just say that Colzet didn't stand a chance.

It was the biggest momentum swing I've ever experienced in this game.

This weekend I forgot that 2 bandits with chips still had concussion missiles and left Corran at range 2 with only a focus. He died. I won't forget that again.

Warning: World War Zed is nearly upon us.

Regionals last year, I was 3 and 1 going into my fifth game. All I needed was a solid win to make the cut. I was going for an initial block with my Prototype A-wing against Palob. I misjudged the distance and ended up about a base short. The Prototype then proceeded to get blasted. It was downhill from there. I made mistake after mistake in that game and I was wiped off the board. 0-100 loss.

Started collecting Fantasy Flight Games that are constantly expanding.

Got a Brobot with 3 shields still on it hit by a Gozanti in an epic tournament.

My first Vassal game I was playing MajorJuggler... I had watched some and played with the UI, but it all feels different in a game. He had been moving aggressively and I was thinking I could overshoot his position so I k-turned... all three ships. All three were short and ended up showing their butts to close range fire. This is how I learned to use zoom so that I see the boardstate at 100% instead of much smaller. Dumb move, but man, did I learn a lot from that experience!

Had Soontir tucked behind a B-Wing but didn't have a shot on it. Was reasonably sure that a boost would put me right beside him in my sights. Instead, it put me at Range 1 in his, with my firing arc perfectly horizontal with his base. Soontir didn't get a shot that round, or ever again that game.

At a tournament this weekend, I had a ship that might have been set up to maneuver over an asteroid by a hair. To be safe I barrel rolled it away, and couldn't complete it by a hair, so I rolled back. I didn't notice until the next turn that I had rolled it even closer to the rock and was clearly going over it. I ended up losing a shield off Zeta Leader.

At the same tournament, different game, I was up by 17 points with enough time for two rounds left. Realized I could win handily by running away, decided that would be lame, and continued to dogfight. I misjudged a turn with Omega Leader, and he blanked on all his evade dice, while having a total of 5 hits thrown his way by two TIEs. Full health to destroyed in one turn. I lost that game.

At a tournament recently I left quite angry at my own mistakes.

I had a palpmobile and a full health Soontir against a shieldless Whisper, and he had initiative. I bumped him with the shuttle, and was going to maneuver Soontir in such a way to be out of arc and then to swoop in the next round. Instead, I managed to run Soontir into the shuttle as well. If that wasn't bad enough, the next round, I managed to RUN HIM INTO THE SHUTTLE AGAIN. Which resulted in shots from Whisper with no return fire. The next round Soontir died and my opponent was laughing about it. He wasn't trying to be rude, it was just that I had the whole game under my control until I botched those two rounds and it cost me the W. Not a happy way to finish a tournament.

With a two Defender list, I managed to have one Defender block the K-turn of the other Defender. Two small base ships under my control, and I put them in the same place.

Had three X-Wings hit their 4Ks a turn early. Ended up showing their butts at range one to a fully-loaded B-Wing and T-70. Lost a ship per turn as they scrambled to get away and turn back around while taking 4 dice up the rear.

messed up the brobot box activation order, got split and two crushed by the stampeding Raider....

Final Swiss round of the last tournament I played, I boosted dash too close the edge, then next turn rather than a 2 hard turn I did a 1 bank to shed stress. Thin portion of base out of play. I had blown Vader out of the sky, but that left Miranda against a shuttle and Soontir.

The worst part is, I did the boost expecting Vader to move further than he did, and I wanted to keep him in range. Without the boost I still would have had a range three shot on him. Ended up going from second with a decent shot at the title to third. I think my opponent was more annoyed than I was, saying he didn't want to win that way. Great game though.

Assigned a red K-turn to an un touched Xwing as it skirted the edge of the board, which had a stress token I just didnt see from where I was because of it being behind his Raider... my friend made it do a bank turn off the board :(

HE however, in our first time playing with the Corvette, mis-assigned his Decimator dial and parked it in front of the Corvette... Then I smashed it. He forfeited after that :D

K-Turned my Defender off an asteroid. The following round, K-Turned my Defender back onto the asteroid.

Was at the top table of a tourney, handily beating my opponent...

Flew a ~40-point Corran Horn off the edge because I got greedy and wanted to regen with a 2 bank instead of 2 turn.

Was flying Guri fully loaded up (Advanced Proton Torps, Predator, AT). Was facing Kath head on, at range 3. Set my dial for the next turn and picked 4 ahead, going for a bump. Turns out we flew past each other and Guri was bang at range 1 of Kath's rear arc. My mate then rolled 5 hits, I rolled blanks. Worse move I've ever done.
