I have said it before, but I think a tournament series that includes only to wave 3 would be pretty cool and not so intimidating to new players.

If you are going to run awings, you need the patches. refit, awing test pilot, etc. Same with interceptors.

it's difficult to run competitive lists without all the patches, and unless you are up to speed on all of that, you are likely to get crushed. I think xwing is not very noob friendly anymore, we play mostly casual, but some of the new guys I have gotten into this game would get destroyed in a tournament, and there is so much post maneuver movement now as well.

I really liked the game more at 3 to 3.5 to be honest, though I still like it and still collect everything. bombers needed help then, and the tie advanced as well.

I think it would be fun to have a "limited tournament" which only allowed for specific ships and upgrades. No c3po, no autothrusters, no outrider, etc. no Miranda, possibly no TLT. I wonder if the community would be interested in putting together a list of diallowed cards / ships for a limited tournament?

I started about here. Buzzsaw, soontir, bounty hunter was great. I didn't have the multiple copies to field biggs walks the dog and i didnt have 3po. Imam happier now, and think it will be better after this wave is released.

The only down side is how much stuff you now want, harder for new people.

Meh. The game back then was pretty blah. Nothing but unnamed pilots in the most efficient ships possible trying to ram one another to deny actions. Ship diversity was pretty terrible; mostly just TIE Swarm vs B-Wings with some paprika here and there. It's only fondly remembered because it was what was destroyed by the massive mistake that is Advanced Cloaking Device.

There's always a meta boogeyman that people dream of various ways to do without. TLT seems to be the soup du jour in this regard, but overall there's way more options and interesting options at that, that at any time in the game's history; including Wave 3.5.

TLT would put whisper in a pretty serious bind. At that time, the only real counter was fat han. whisper is still powerful and I would not define her as a jouster. but she is not OP anymore.

Pre wave 4 was literally all b-wings. It wasnt this miraculous diverse time. That's going on right now when you. Can play a 5 round tournament and not face the same list twice.

This is a much more interesting thought experiment to me.

Let's focus on the same era, then pretend we got Most Wanted/Scyk/Kihraxz/YV-666 added to the game. We might have to spot the Rebels the Z-95 expansion for it to make sense, or we can just pretend Scum got it first and Rebels received their cheap filler later.

Rebels would have their Warthogs. Crack Swarm would have taken over TIE spam duties for Imperials. Predator would be all over every faction/Fat Han. Lone Wolf and Stay on Target would be around pre-2400 for any of the factions to use.

I think Scum would have probably dominated. Triple K4 YVs, Scyk Mangler jousters, awesome HWKs that fit into any list, Glitteraxzis that can either swarm or alpha strike other generics with ordnance... Bossk and Moralo would have been huge damage dealers in the pre-"everybody dodges" era, Boba and Kath would have been extremely solid, Talonbane would have been the best alpha strike around, Kavil a punishing arc-dodging Y-Wing, etc.

Loved the game then... would probably love it just as much. However, Epic play would suffer and that is the aspect of the contemporary game I enjoy the most.

We would all be complaining about Fat Hans, TIE Advances sucking, Interceptors blowing up too easily, the game favoring the Rebels, the game favoring the Empire, TIE Swarms needing a nerf, Biggs and B-wings being unfair....

VI han downs Whisper in two turns and can even arcdodge the beast due to him moving after that, denying him the re-cloak and heavily downing his mobility the following turn.

Basically autowin against whisper

Rebel captive Chiraneau stresses the phantom before it can re-cloak, so unless Imp has another PS9+ to eat that stress every turn, it's mobility is down to greens unless it wants to be a Z-95 in terms of survivability.

VI Rebel captive Chiraneau is at par with VI han against whisper. Move after, shoot first. Seen them one-shotting whispers. Literally.

Statistically TLT has 2,25 damage on first shot, (TL \ Focus)

1,5 damage on second attack.

Even without the SJ on Whisper

Whisper has 1,5 natural evades on his\her\its green dice.

'Le old whisper of those ages used to carry Rec Specialist to have up to three focus.

More than enough.

And with SJ second TLT attack poses no threat whatsover. The only dudes that can rival Whisper in terms of TLT-ignorance are Fel and Crab bros with SJs

The thing that makes Whisper cry is that people are SO FREAKING ANNOYED by Soontir that they started slapping VI on Horns, Vaders and Poes.
