I flew Etahn A'baht and it was fun

By GeneticDrift, in X-Wing

I equiped Etahn with adv sensors and targeting astromech. I had stay on target for one game and juke for the other.

The other points were: hobbie with targeting astromech/integrated and Ello with R2 astro, VI, and auto thrusters.

I faced whisper, palpatine, omega (i won) and soontir, karnor, omega (i lost). Etahn was a pro vs both lists and really pulled some weight. Being low ps was a hindrance but it worked ok.

Im just saying people should play more ewings and maybe a fix doesnt need to be so drastic.

Etahn is wonderful in Epic Play.

I got absolutely rocked by an etahn and 3 b-wings list last year at regionals. Ended my day.

Ill try a generic next time. I was usually moving first anyway, good blocks and his ability did help blow up a shuttle and scare other ships around. I think i will try y wing escorts, maybe proxy dorsal turret.

Oh, the named E-wings are fine, or close enough. Corran's a competitive staple, and Etahn has shown up here and there. His problem isn't so much that he's bad, but that his ability isn't really suited to the 100 point format. Also, he happens to not be Corran.
The problem is the generics, which are absolute trash. 27 points of E-wing gets you a PS1 grunt without upgrades, which is a joke compared to almost everything else available in that price range.

The E-Wing has been underrated because of the utter dominance of the Phantom and the scrambling to survive that onslaught.

If you put BB-8 and an Acc-Corrector on a Blackmoon you can do some damage on a very surprisingly mobile ship, leaving your action available for a shield boost (aka Evade).

Yes, the cost is ridiculous for generics. The ship is solid just at a bad price point. With upgrades the generic is as expensive as soontir.

Anyone have good generic builds?

Edit: sees above post.

That's kind of a case in point for why the generic E-wing is terribly overcosted, though. That setup is 34 points; for that kind of money you could instead take fully-equipped versions of Wedge, Jake, Ezra, Farlander, or any number of other, better pilots.

Problem is, you can slap AC on a B-Wing and have something very similar for just 25 points . . . .

The E-Wing generics are certainly fun to play, but they just aren't competitive. Corran is incredibly competitive, and Etahn is at least decent. I have been meaning to try him with Juke though -- we'll see how it turns out.

I have been running him lately with Wedge and Ten Numb. I find him and Ten Numb combo nicely. Throw in some Crack Shots and a Juke on Etahn. First time I flew them I wrecked Howlrunner with Wedge at range three. Had to pop the crackshot but **** was that the best crackshot!!!

I have to disagree with you there, the dial of the B-Wing is utterly inferior and that and the green dice make up for a lot.

Ethan is a fantastic swarm-buffing pilot... In the most expensive small-base rebel ship to date. That the hull in question is a bit overpriced doesn't help, bit it's only half the problem, in that he wants to buff his buddies but costs enough he never has many.

If he were in a Z-95, for instance, he'd be everywhere.

Personally, I'd love him on an A-wing:EPT, durability, and a helpful firepower boost to a swarm that would appreciate the help? Yum. :)

solid point about the dial

the second point is a funny joke

You and I tend to have a very different relationship with our green dice. :D.

Then you had fun wrong!!!

No upgrades?

Just plan for omega leader, i messed up that game and it was horrible for the ewing. Obviously charging omega/blocking and fireing on with the rest of the team works good. I just had a dumb person in charge (me)

FCS on etahn. Puts it right at 100.

I flew A'baht, and I liked it
The taste of his cherry chapstick

In other news, Etahn A'baht is absolutely astonishing in Furball.

Note that it doesn't specify that his ability only helps allies, just that it must be an opponent in his sights...

Not as swarmy, but what about Etahn with 3x GSPs + Crackshot + Chardaan? Etahn can help push some crackshot crits through... Seems like it would be fun to fly...though would it be better than putting calc on crackshot GSPs?

Once guidance chip is out, it should be nice to throw on squad memebers. Adv proton on an bwing is about hit, hit, hit, crit, crit. Which is a sad day for anyone on the recieving end. On something with crack shot, it is gross.

Etahn is cool. He's even better in higher point cap games. Just keep him back, with a nice wide arc on enemy targets, so your squad can just crit for days. He's the only E-Wing I've flown competitively.

I don't mind Etahn in general, but every time I see him on the table I want to shake him and yell "Stop trying to make us call you Etahn! Your name is Ethan Abbot, and you're from Connecticut!"

For funies I tried out Etahn with 4 A-wings I CRUSHED my buddy, didn't lose a ship since we so fast and with some OK rolls did hilarious amounts of damage.
