Another 3D printed ship tray :)

By Artifixprime, in Star Wars: Armada

So I had a go at my own version of a tray for cards/tokens etc...

This one is designed to hold the lot:

soooo, care to share the designs somewhere so maybe in the future I can have one of those printed or buy it or something?

also you got imossible upgrades and double officer upgrades for that nebulon B, how dare ya.

You need to make them to fit sleeved cards.

that would be nice, and i'm just going to reply here instead of on your PM; yes I saw you sell decks but I'm not going to pay 23 dollars ( or 21.12 euro) for shipping on a 15 dollar (13,77 euro) item

That looks awesome; Wish i had one. :)

Here's a suggestion - exact same design but with two large circular spots to the right for Upgrades you need to exhaust, so you can tap them.

@Geressen: You can have a copy of the .stl file, but I'm not sure if I can attach it here.

Yeah, I know - sneaky rebels taking upgrades they can't have :)

@Chris Cook: Fair point. I don't use sleeves though so it never occurred to me to allow for them.

@RazelKorr: I'll have a play about and see how that looks - thanks.

I got this printed on 3Dhubs relatively cheaply - about €17 inc delivery. Going to see though if I can fill in the gaps (liquid green stuff maybe?) and try to resin cast a few more as I think it's a bit too pricy to use 3D printing for everything. Shapeways would have cost over €70 for the same piece before delivery!

Really like this, but as others have stated, it needs to fit sleeved cards.

Artfixprime,

You could always post the .STL file on Thingiverse too for all the Armada fans out there. I know I would love to test it out. I have another 3D printed tray that is a little too snug on the tokens. Regardless, awesome work!!!

I really love it! But what about a slot to hold a title card and/or a commander if this is used for an ISD or an Mc80?

Apart from that, it is definitely one of the better card trays I have seen. Pretty awesome!

Good idea. It might be a few days before I get it up there though as I need to adjust the size of the holes for the command tokens as they were about 0.5mm too small. Going to add 1mm to the overall diameter.

The reason I went a bit nuts and included 6 spaces for upgrade cards was so that in most cases there should be space to fit a title and a commander along with up to 4 additional upgrades.

Did you mean something else?

I don't own any card sleeves, so I don't know the exact dimensions.

For the cards here, I added 1mm to the overall length and width and the sit in a 2mm recess (5mm overall thickness).

I can do another version of this with larger spaces if I know the sizes. My only concern though is that this tray is quite big as it is, I wouldn't think that adding a few more millimeters will cause a problem per se, but it might push the outside dimensions beyond what someone could print on a machine they own themselves?

Is this card tray pacifically for the Nebulon-B? Then I misunderstood. I thought it could be used for every ship in the game ( Such as the ISD, which can have 6 upgrades, a title and a commander).

I get you now.

Nope, this wasn't specifically for the Neb-B (or any other ship). It was a compromise in that respect where I was looking for a balance between between the number of upgrade cards that you can have versus the number that people usually use (i.e. me and the guys I play against)

So, if you run a naked ship, it's going to look like a lot of empty space, but if you run (as you say) a maxed out ISD, then you won't fit everything.

The tray is quite large as it is: 240mm x 180mm. Adding another two upgrades would add another 46mm to the width - but you might be able to offset this my moving other components about to make better use of the space.

The other concern is the total volume of the shape as it has a direct cost increase when you go to get it printed :/

How did you upload the image?

How did you upload the image?

I uploaded it to my flickr account and linked to the image there.

There is some limited ability to attach images to posts on the forum here, but I wouldn't rely on it.

You can also upload the images onto photobucket and link them in by copying the "direct" link and using the "Image" button on here.

I've put this up on Thingyverse for anyone who's interested.

It's slightly different from the one I had printed as I've added 1mm to the diameter of the holders for the command tokens.
