What are some things your opponent uses (ships) that drives you nuts?

By Fuzzywookie, in X-Wing

Any ship equipped with Autothrusters. Let's all gripe about C-3PO! Ooh a better than C-3PO card? Oh that's fine. No one complains about that. -_-

Actually I'm not sure if I'm more annoyed at Autothrusters, or the players who defend them and say they aren't broken... Come to think of it, it's the same players that defended the phantom before it got...nerfed... Wait a minute.

I'm sensing a turret player...

nah, he would've realized auto-blaster turrets exist

I mean seriously, they both have auto in their name!

Properly flown and equipped Decimators are my kryptonite. It's lucky they're so hard to find these days.

R2-D2 Poe. That way when you block him he's still invincible and your opponent can just 1 green straight 10 turns in a row until he finally turns around and starts killing your remaining ships.

At that point when it's my 2.5 TIE Fighters vs. a Poe or Soontir I start wishing to die. I miss end games that were fair and not just shutting out your opponent because he can't out damage your regen.

Originally didn't they price defensive abilities higher and made them less potent than offensive abilities? Like Flight Instructor and Predator. I see why. They failed at this goal andfilledthe game with a bunch of hyper defense but I understand the original intent, they were trying to prevent something like Super Poe or Corran from arising.

Playing against...? I enjoy the game too much to be annoyed about much of anything. I know a few people who won't play me on Casual nights if I start setting up 7-8 TIEs...

Fat boosting PWT pancakes which do laps round the edge of the play area for the whole game.

Just turnin' left all day long....

TLTs. Despite them being on low agi ships I despise them. They require absolutely no skill and zero planning. Just run away as fast as possible and shoot out your a**.

Double regeneration is rather frustrating. One regenerating ship can be brought down by an alpha strike easily enough, but if the second ship was flanking it's incredibly difficult to bring your forces to bear before you lose too much to bring down the second ship.

Still a bit of an uphill battle, true. But it's not brainless. Better counterplay than the Fat Decimators- and Falcon, at least. Although the sheer volume of dice is tedious, I'll admit.

Triple Regen (Miranda, Ship (Poe) with R5P9, ship with R2D2).

You should never have to kill a ship 3 times over before it finally dies.

How are you approaching that? You can't fit all that in a list without either using a cheap x-wing or Y-wing for R2-D2 (which is going to stick out like a sore thumb and be easily ignored), or leave the TLT off Miranda in which case she'll hit like a wet noodle and can be ignored until the endgame (Which she'll lose because she can't regenerate and attack at the same time).

A fully loaded Corran, man he is a monster. I have fought him three times and I have only downed him once, and that was with spamming crew Vader on him and blocking him with cheap ties. My other lists lacked those and he destroyed them.

I hate Brobots with a passion. No matter what I do, they always seem to get the best of me.

THE most infuriating things out there?

Soontir who manages to face a swarm and laugh it in the face

forever aLone Wolf Poe who eats everything and keeps regenning. Three turns of concentrated Brobots fire? pfffft, nothing special!

I hate when my opponent is flying a 3 agility ship and roll's 3 natural evades 6 times in a row and I roll 1 evade all game

but it could be worse. I could not be playing a game at all. ;)

I hate flying against the list that won at Worlds. Just smells of desperation and boredom.

No really everybody and his dog is crying about regenerating 1 shield per turn. You do realize that Empire has a lot better defense to begin with, therefore Rebels just need this and also pay over 42 points for a Corran or 38ish points for Miranda or Poe. While Soontir is every bit as difficult to deal with at 35 points.

And the going to endgame with generics against Corran, Guri or Soontir makes absolutely no difference. You are dead if the enemy player has a clue what he is doing.

Back to topic: For me there is nothing you can bring that would annoy me. It's all a question of what list i run and how i play it! Everything is beatable and nothing is really OP today!

I don't get this. Because nobody even had this list on the radar of being remotely OP before worlds. And it's actually nothing more than a good solid list... It also doesn't spam anything.

So why is this boring and desperate?

That's a good question. Because it's either Poe&Miranda plus 24-26 points (not sufficient for a decent 3rd regenerator) or it's Corran plus any of the two others... And then you have 12-16 points left for a Z or an A blocker!

Surely you don't mean agility dice?

Dual Pancakes is the only list I really hate facing, and thankfully it's become quite rare now.

I don't remember saying anything about it being OP or spamming anything. That fact that it gets copy pasted into every tournament with zero thought because it won at Worlds is enough reason for me.

"3gen"

"Gunneranda" Miranda+TLT+gunner

"Poe lite" Poe+VI+R5-P9+integrated

"The other guy" rookie+R2-D2+integrated

The first two here are something to be reckoned with as the only regen piece in other lists, and you ignore the other guy at your own peril. T-65s in general do their best work when ignored by their target, if they can get a bead that is...

Super competitive? Not really, but I've had games where the total number of hits against Luke (I know he's not the other guy here " Corran, or Poe has approached double digits because TIEs just can't punch through or I couldn't get multiple shots in per round.

Gotta agree with stabbald here, when someone describes their list starting with "this is Paul Heaver's list that won world's", at a casual event, then I get kinda miffed. I endeavor to bring something new to the table every time I play, not always the best lists but new and interesting to me, and when someone brings a try hard list to local game store x wing night, it's really annoying.

The person I usually play with is my brother, only made it to a tourny once so far. All he flies is Bossk, I really don't like Bossk.

Really have to disagree here. People should be able to play whatever they want without some jerk across the table trying to judge them for it. Even if it's a casual match, maybe they want to practice their tournament list. Maybe they like flying it and just want to play with something they like. Why should they adhere to your imaginary checklist of things that aren't allowed in casual games?

Also "try hard," really? Take that nonsense back to Xbox Live

Regen-Rebels is pretty annoying for me.
not super salty about it, just not something i enjoy playing against.

However I actually like playing against Fel, (now, i am an imps player myself) he is just so squirly that when you finally pin him down it feels like you truly out maneuvered your opponent

Look people can play whatever they want, and I don't gripe about it at the table, but when you bring a tried and tested list to the table your not playing for fun, your playing to win. So "try hard" is the appropriate term. And like I said it's more annoying than frustrating, especially when it's not a hard list to fly (super dash, tlt, etc.) and it shows no ingenuity, just someone that wants to win.
