Leveton's painted minis and such

By Leveton, in Imperial Assault Painting and Modification

I had these finished almost a week ago but hadn't gotten around to photographing them until now. Here are my first two groups of Royal Guards. I have two more groups that I'm finishing and will probably look to trade.

OK, it took me entirely too long to finish them, but my Royal Guards are done! I'm moving on to my Probe Droids next.

I have one more that has a broken leg, which I'll paint after I get it fixed.

It's been a while since I've posted anything, but that's because my latest projects have been big - massive, even.

Between their sheer size and how busy I've been with work and personal obligations, it took me a while to get all of these finished. The bright side is that I already have a great start on my repulsor tank.

I just finished my repulsor tank, and it is probably the best-looking paint job I've done yet. He's even done in time to get use in a current Return to Hoth campaign!

Edit: Actually doing General Sorin next. I want him ready for the Hoth finale. I was able to do a lot of priming yesterday, thanks to beautiful weather. Perfect temperature for it, low humidity, and little wind. That combo is a rarity here in Kansas.

General Sorin went pretty quickly. The closeup image makes me wish I'd gone with a slightly different color for the fabric vs. the armor, but he looks great at tabletop distance.

And he's ready just in time for the last two missions of my Return to Hoth campaign!

IG-88 is done and ready to lead the droid revolution, the fastest I've ever finished a miniature. It wasn't as in-depth of a process as Sorastro's tutorial for IG-88, but I'm quite satisfied with how he turned out. I'm probably going to turn to Sorastro's tutorial for the Royal Guard Champion next.

Fabric looks ok to me but if you can manage a dark wash on the armor and helm with something, it would seperate the colors. Not a heavy wash but just lightly applied, not over the details you have painted. Maybe 2 coats to darken them.

That probably would help a little bit, and I might try it in the future, but for the meantime I like how he looks at tabletop distance.

I finished my Royal Guard Champion today. I opted to give him a Kir Kanos color scheme, instead of the Carnor Jax look. This really is one of my favorite sculpts in the game, but he's a little bit tricky to paint. I'm not sure what I'll paint next.

I finished some of my beasts yesterday: three of my four nexus and two alternate color scheme wampas. That leaves me with one nexu that I'm not sure how I want to paint and two wampas I plan to paint in the canonical white fur. I took longer than I meant to get these painted, but that was a matter of procrastination rather than difficulty (although the mouths on the nexus were a pain to paint).

Up next: a bunch of Stormtrooper stuff: nine regular Stormtroopers, four heavies, two E-Webs, and Kayn Somos. (I have twice that many, except for Kayn, but I really don't want to paint in a batch bigger than this.)
