Monumental Cometary Elephant hunted to extinction?

By Edrahil135, in X-Wing

My thoughts on the shuttle.

1. it is a fantastic value for it's cost. 3 attack, lots of durability. often more survivable than a decimator.

2. I never fly it without EU. baffle may be worth considering, I have not tried it yet. I consider EU an auto include.

3. buzzsaw shuttle nearly always pulls it's weight. (OGP with FCS and Gunner)

I think it is highly underrated. I recommend you give it a go. the only downside is turning the thing around. Consider a stress sink like a BSP with wingman to let you stop at will or open up your dial.

I think I'm going to try the doomshuttle, just to try and expand my comfort circle with the game

Rumors of its demise are greatly exaggerated. Although it may be endangered in some parts of the world, small communities still exist in others. Inspired by Dom Cairo's Alabaster Hippo Ballet, I had space cowboy Soontir Fel wrangling three of the said beasts to a top 2 finish at a store championship this weekend. The proceedings included two run-ins with a quad-TLT list. I had also previously won a winter kit tourney with the same list, once again having to face a quad-TLT list in the final game. Fel was the reason I ultimately closed out those games, but the charging bulls certainly did enough damage to get me to that position.

Good job Jonas! You've been tearing up all the recent tournaments here in Vancouver and neighboring areas.

How did your final against Blair play out? Lambdas are pretty good to bring against B-wings.

A bit necro-ing. Not only the upcoming baffelos breathing new life into our bovine friends.

Right now its a bit if a waste to add a cannon onto a space cow as you already have a 3primary. With the tractor beam however we might see a new class of alabaster bisons:

So the space cow lumbers on to the playmat with some Tie Bomber buddies. The bombers lay a track of mines. The space cow does a full stop. A high PS arc dodging pureskill awesomesauce stud deftly maneuvers just past the mines. "Pure skill", he hisses. The space cow yanks him onto the mine with a tractor beam. "Moo", says the space cow.

It's also come back as a support ship for the new kids on the block.

Ran Colonel Jendon with ST-321 the other day in company with Omega Leader and Omega Ace.

Being able to set up 'Leader's target lock on the first turn before anyone got near was brilliant - you can bank an evade with comms relay at the same time, which means that by the time you actually get into attack range, you've got a full stack of tokens. Equally, Omega Ace can come in with a Target Lock without needing to Push The Limit.....

  • Omega Leader - Juke, Comms Relay, Stealth Device
  • Omega Ace - Push The Limit, Comms Relay, Stealth Device
  • Colonel Jendon - ST-321, Advanced Sensors, Mara Jade, Rebel Captive, Engine Upgrade

This is p. sneaky; using the shuttle to give OL a lock is nice. The turn where he is in range without a lock, especially against higher-PS targets, is the worst.

That's a super expensive Jendon though... dunno that I'd load him up that much.

It needs tiny googly eyes

It's all about the Sensor Jammer.

It's all about the Sensor Jammer.

Ran a Vader Sensor Jammer OGP tonight - the SJ is awesome and really makes the shuttle live longer. Saved me about 4-5 damage.

I think the shuttle will never truly be dead, its stats for points is incredible!

This is why I do not like upgrades on it except for Vader which in my mind is still the best upgrade for your buoyant star cow. You just need to cope with the dial and its firing arc, this means having a list that can let a Lambda roll in pursuit. I have seen people try flying it as a fighter but its like training an Olympic sprinter for a marathon, it simply does not get the same results.

In the late game the lambda looses power, that is why Vader compliments it so much, it does not have a long lifespan.

Palpatine also works but here It functions solely for getting your aces to the late game, its all about Palpatine and less about your shuttle.

Tips for using your white hole whale:

1. Bump it on your own ships, slow rolling is your friend.

2. The first turns setting up for position, a full stop is fine.

3. Range 3 is were the cool kids play.

4. Always set up for pursue.

5. Use it as no fly zones.

6. If you cannot do any of these use it as a blocker to your advantage.

(7. Actions are less relevant over positioning for ships with poor mobility)

8. Sensor slot helps enormously (Advanced Sensors, Fire Control System, soon Electronic Waffle)

9: Deploying on a board edge helps prevent being flanked/pursued.

Local store champ at the weekend had at least 2 Palpmobiles and one absolute lunatic brave Imperial hero using 4 naked Omicron Group Pilots and Backstabber. (Not sure how he did, but it was a fun squadron to look at).

An attrition list, maybe? That's a lot of shields and hull to chew through in a timed game...

that's lots of hull, shields and dice.

wide slow arcs, so arcdodgers might have problems

backstabber? I would have gone with FCS and tacticians on them all

Imagine this WALL OF HORNS that stampedes you with the fury of avalanche!

Boy, I even like the prospect, will go ahead and borrow them for a ride!
