Just went to a scheduled and posted tournament in the Houston area and I was literally the only person there. Would love to get some people in the Houston area together to start playing more regularly. Anyone nearby or interested at all? Campaign would be welcome as well.
Being the only one to show up at a tournament sucks!
Wow, that sux. I feel for you. I live far away from you (in New Jersey), but I'd love to get together for some skirmish action. You could always try Vassal.
I didn't see anything going on in LFG vassal and I tried to set something up on roll20 with minimal success. Any regular vassal games going on?
There is discussion of a Vassal tournament or league starting up.
See the post by Landoro on this page: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/135337-vassal-up-and-running-lets-battle/page-5
I try to get on Vassal most nights from like 7-9 PM PST.
One thing you might want to do, is try to form a weekly league at one of the area stores. It'll take work, but it is a good way to get people together on set night or day to play games. I feel the pain, as it is difficult to pull people away from playing X-Wing all the time to try out Imperial Assault. Hopefully as people realize the meta is so much more wide open now.
you can play IA on Roll20?
Were you the TO?
If so, what did you do to try to get people to show up.
If not, wow - even the TO didn't show up. That's bad!
No sorry I was the only participant to show up. The flgs had one employee there and the owner didn't seem to care much what happened either way. Thanks for the heads up Rogue I've actually started playing on Vassal lately and it's been great.

i was asking about Roll20 not telling lol. i might have to give in and try vassal sometime.
Ohhhh. Yeah I think the BoardWar.eu group has been running a campaign on Roll20 but I haven't been able to get a game together as of yet. Vassal has been great for skirmishes though.

You could say his victory was... unsullied.

I regret NOTHING .
It's a shame that the kits can only be purchased by retailers. We have a very active gaming community in Sligo, West of Ireland. However it's in no way a competitive environment so most would have no interest in traveling to a tournament. However if we had access to a kit or two we could host a small casual tournament during our games days, give them a FFG prize/card/poster etc and it may encourage further games.

Consider talking to your nearest game store and offering to buy a kit through them. They'll probably mark it up since they won't get exposure for it, but I've seen a few cases of isolated gaming groups being able to support their community this way.
I was the only person to show up at a tourney this weekend. I played a couple skirmishes against one of the store owners/managers and promptly got obliterated. I still had fun, though! And they were kind enough to give me some tokens, Bantha cards, and one of the coins from the OP kit.
I need to brush up on my skills.
Not that I'd have much of a chance given my showing, I suppose, but how does one go about participating in the regional competitions?
