Can Crackshot TIEs be filler?

By Admiral Deathrain, in X-Wing

We all have gotten to know the power of various 6 TIE+Crackshot configurations by now, but what about using low amounts of Crackshot TIEs to fill up a list? I haven't seen that, yet, is there a specific reason for it?

I was throwing around some ideas earlier today and came up with a standart Omega Leader with a standart Kallus Whisper, 33 points left. 2 BSPs with Crackshot are 30 points which leaves me a good 3 point initiative bid. Is Palpatine that much better?

Certainly. An auto-hit is always nice.

Yep I'm running 3 in one of my lists.

45 points isn't filler.

A question worth asking is is that Crack Shot worth more than Night Beast's freebie focus or one point more for Backstabber, Dark Curse or TIE mk2 Night Beast?

I've run 3 crack/fos alongside Vessery kitted out with HLC, a crackshot for him too, and hull upgrade. Seemed to work pretty nicely ... But I agree with Blue - 56pts has left filler behind and has entered mainstay territory!

I'd say so. Guaranteed damage is king in a game of uncertainty.

Imperial Veterans' Tractor Vessery gives you enough points to up those Fo Fighters to Zeta Ace, Zeta Leader and Omega Leader.

If A-wings can, I don't see why a Black Squadron Pilot with Crackshot for the same points can't be.

crackshot makes even those measly two red dice dangerous. as long as it's not used, that tie is a danger to even soonts (well, sort of). I think they're great fillers.

I don't find them to be better than any of the other standalone TIEs on a 1-for-1 basis, but then I loathe TIE Fighters (1 shot explode boxes) with a passion.

..then maybe you should change your point of view: if you can't stand ties and don't fly them, ask yourself: "what am I more afraid of seeing? a "night beast" or a blackcrack?"

now, nightbeast is nice IMO - and I adore the cheesy name :D - but if flying soontir or a corran who's getting the beatstick, what causes more headaches?

yeah, the blackcrack with both, and double that with an operational stealth-device on soonts.

my opponents nightbeast having 2 green tokens is nice; my opponent forcing me to over-invest -my- green tokens (which I will miss on the shots following).. heck, that's dangerous.

Can there be any other way to use them? I think not.

Even in a swarm they are just filling space. Very dangerous space.

I find that they are my immediate go to after I choose an ace. So a pair of Blackcracks is almost added to the cost of the Defender or Phantom or what ever.

They work well. But you better know how to fly a "small" swarm. Meaning usually 2 to 4 ship swarm. Not the msot amazing blocks. Thin on numbers. Better get your value.

Also 2 cracks, in a pinch work as a 30 point distraction.
