Nice!
If I'm counting right, that's 38 points. Did you leave the final 2 points open, or did you pick up an upgrade or 2?
It's 40. Kept 3po and Mhd next to Chewie. Chewie nearly one shottedafigure every attack. Faced a strong luke/Leia team round two. Destroyed it. Why does no one like chewie
Congrats! It's nice to see Chewy get his due.
Oh, I see my mistake. I was misreading the Troopers as Saboteurs. That's where I was off by the 2 points.
Also, I think Chewie is better in a tournament setting with time limits than in casual games where you can usually play the mission to the end. A couple of Royal Guard Champion lists met in the finals of a tournament I played in yesterday, and neither of those RGCs ever died. Chewie can't run away as well when the time comes, but he is similarly durable and gets to attack from range.
I have also been asking myself this question lately, trying to figure out why Chewie doesn't get any love. What is the main beef people have with him? I love rolling the white and black, and that is just the start of his awesomeness. Is he not the hero's champion?
Grats on the win.
Edited by FrogTriggerI'm glad to see Chewbacca winning a tournament. Some of the high priced uniques can now make up their cost after the errata. Some can't, *cough* Han Solo *cough* but that's another thing. Great job at the tournament!
PS, in my experience durable figures haven't prolonged games all that much, besides maybe Darth Vader. Only had 2 tournament matches ever go to time. Have certainly had long social games, but we're generally with newer players (myself included at the time) or on maps that arent tournament legal. At times is quite obvious why certain maps are not chosen for the official tournament rotation...
Thanks for the support fellas!
I'd be curious to know what kinds of squads you faced.
But the pairing of Chewbacca and MHD19 is actually pretty solid...Chewie is hard to kill, and then he just gets healed (and often has a free Evade because of 3P0), so he just keeps going forever. I'll have to look into that myself because I've sort of written off most of the initial heroes, personally.

Mainly the fact he's 15pts sunked into one Sp4 figure, which seriously hampers you in the mission objective department. Also, black/white isn't that consistent, unless you're really lucky, he'll still go down fairly quickly to massed trooper fire. Great attack stats don't mean much when all your 15pt wookie can shoot at are measly 3pt troopers that are Reinforced first thing next round.
The Chewbacca list at my local Store placed last out of of eight. So local meta still trumps all, and the meta here is the Elite Stormtrooper.
after painting my Chewbacca I now feel compelled to put him in a skirmish list.
I like Chewie for his high health and ability to stun from range, how many units can do this in the entire game without attachments? I think you have to be the type of player who isn't scared to stray from what theorycrafters deem the 'meta'. Usually it requires a higher skill level than the average player, or at least a different perspective. I've always enjoyed bucking what others deem the trend and then beating them anyway. ![]()
Usually it requires either a higher skill level on your side or an incredibly low level on your opponents side ... ![]()
