3 Lists, 1 to choose

By moroz366, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi again, comrades!

I've got some fuel for my personal top secret vodka reactor, so i have electricity again.

In one week i want to participate in some sort of tournament, and i have 3 lists. They work almost good, but i want to improve my initial possibilities during tourney fights.

PILOTS

Boba Fett (51)
Firespray-31 (39), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Expert Handling (2), Navigator (3)

Rexler Brath (48)
TIE Defender (37), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Predator (3), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

1) The best variant, i suppose.

2) Too random. I think, i should go wait for guidance chips.

3) Too low HP. If i buy YT-2400, i can change Predator for Lone Wolf and Engine for Stealth Device.

What would you suggest?

I like the first list the most. The second list is screaming for extra munitions and either guidance chips or long range scanners. The third list could be solid, but I think it is the hardest to fly. I would take list 1. The upgrades are strong, and if you know how to fly the albino space cow you'll do just fine.

I second Gersun's support of list 1 and want to add that another EPT might be better on Vessery, because having him shoot before Redline with VI makes him more dependent on Redline taking TL actions (often difficult in the first round of combat in this acewing meta) whereas if he shoots second you can still gain the TL after Redline's FCS kicks in. Of course, there are also situations where you'd rather have Vessery shoot first so YMMV.

Thank you, comrades!

I've got a variation of the third list:

Boba Fett — Firespray-31 39

Expert Handling 2

Ion Bombs 2

Navigator 3

Extra Munitions 2

Countermeasures 3

Slave I 0

Ship Total: 51

Rexler Brath — TIE Defender 37

Lone Wolf 2

Heavy Laser Cannon 7

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II 1

Ship Total: 47

Boba here is especially tricky. He evades, he runs away, he fires back, he chooses almost any maneuver, he drops the bombs, he barrel rolls, he simply rocks!

And Rexler do all job for this perfect scum ******* (here was very bad word... hm... something about the thing under your spines, comrades).

I think it will be great fun to play this.

Honestly I find countermeasures to be overpriced for a single use card, though I can see it being handy on scum Boba with glitterstim if he gets caught by multiple ships. Still, a point more for an engine would be a much better investment. As for expert handling, while tricky, you'll find yourself sorely lacking dice-modifying actions. Going to PS10 with VI would also help you catch more ships with your bombs if that's your aim. Here's an idea to really terrify your opponents with bombs, Boba might still suffer without many dice modifiers when he boosts, but at least he's more likely to get out of arc/range as the boost moves you farther than the barrel roll.

Rexler Brath — TIE Defender 37

Lone Wolf 2

Heavy Laser Cannon 7

Ship Total: 46

Boba Fett — Firespray-31 39

Veteran Instincts 1

Proton Bombs 5

Navigator 3

Extra Munitions 2

Engine Upgrade 4

Slave I 0

Ship Total: 54

I'm not sure, that 1 bomb will hit somebody, thatswhy i put ion's on him. And i do not want to terrify my enemies with bombs. It's just one of the tricks. And no VI because of this.

Boba with EU can easily make a few enemy ships feel themselves alone and pointless. They will seek for another target. A have only Brath.

And 100 points means no initiative bid.

Proton Bombs on VI Boba are amazing. It makes a no fly zone in the back of your ship. It can really make people do silly things. Or they forget about them and you drop it in their lap.

Secondly, I find the engine great at getting you out of danger and back into the fight quickly, whereas the stress from expert handling will make you both slower and predictable when forced to do greens, though you will be able to extend that first pass a couple of turns by barrel rolling... and taking unmodified shots. In fact, by stressing your Firespray you make Boba Fett's ability (and that of navigator) less useful while also cutting yourself off from your hard turns, which are very helpful when trying to get that rear arc on someone.

Finally, at PS10 I don't see the need for an initiative bid because any ace able to get that high isn't nearly as mobile or capable at dodging arcs as Soontir/Whisper/Jake are, except for VI Vader who was going to move after you anyway. There might be an argument for a PS bid with Rexler if you tend to see VI brobots, PtL Corran or Carnor Jax in your local meta.

Edit: rereading my comment it looks pretty cold and to the point. Sorry about that, it was late and I was trying to get all my thoughts out as quickly as possible.
