Question about Squadron Engagement

By Pilot no55389, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

I understand that squadrons at distance 1 of each other are engaged, my question is: at what point of movement does engagement kick in?

1- End of movement, so you could potentially fly past a squadron?

2- Instantly the moment distance 1 is reached, meaning a screen of squadrons could prevent you from reaching the inner ones (is that the point of the Rhymerball, for instance?)?

3- When you go to move a squadron, you check to see if they're eligible to move?

Basically, can I fly a squadron past an enemy squadron, or would they immediately stop at distance 1?

The end of movement is what matters both for squads and ships.

You can hop over anything. It's the final placement that matters.

You check at all times. If at any time the squadron is engaged with another, the consequences of engagement take effect.

The problem is, you're looking at movement wrong. You do not move *along* the movement ruler. You "warp" straight from your starting place to your destination. What's in between has no bearing on you. So, if you're not engaged at the start of your movement, and you're not engaged at the end of your movement, you can ignore anything in between.

Ah, thanks a lot, hadn't quite clicked that movement is more like teleporting to the final point! Thanks for the help :)

Only movement that matters in Armada is the start and end of movement. This is for ships and squadrons.
