Vader Shenanigans

By Punning Pundit, in X-Wing

Earlier tonight I was playing a game with Darth. He had 2 crits, both of them being Weapons Malfunction. He had a preexisting Target Lock on a TLT Y-Wing. Darth declared the Y-Wing as the target of his attack- at Range 3 through an asteroid. Darth rolled 2-2=0 red dice. BUT! He had ATC and a target lock, so was able to add a crit result. The Y-Wing rolled his 3 Green Dice.

Darth Vader is the Lord of the Sith. He can do damage with no dice.

This is why i love vader.

Evil shenanigans!!!!

Can you actually do an attack if you cannot gather dice for it? (Maybe my armada rulings getting confused.)

well... you have a dice.. which happens to roll a crit (IMO  ). still a good question for the rules-section to brood over ;)

blinded pilot used to be an legal attack where you roll no dice (reworded now in new damage deck)

Sure -- you're declaring a target despite the fact you have no dice to roll. This enables effects like Tactician to kick in, or in OP's case Advanced Targeting Computer.

Just double checked the RR to be sure because we are all probably still trained by the old book.

The dice are removed from the dice you roll during the roll attack dice step. by that point the attacker is committed to the attack, a target has been selected (for cards that trigger off of that) and the attack is happening. There is nothing to suggest that the attack would be aborted at that stage, so...

yes, you can.

The flip side is this:

Darth Vader doesn't always roll all blanks and explode, but when he does, its Range 3 through a rock.

Yes. Accuracy Corrector will do the same thing. Roll zero dice. Cancel all results and add 2 hits to your results. These results cannot be modified. AC with Auotblaster is SOOOOO much fun.
