I've had the Z-95 since I got the game but haven't been able to find a real use for it. Blount's ability seems interesting but since he can only carry missiles, isn't his ability kind of a one-off?
Practical Use for Lt. Blount?
He can remove a Stealth Device without even rolling a damage result.
Ion Pulse Missiles can land Ion Tokens, again, with all blanks.
He is currently a bit situational, but when Thread Tracers are released he could lead a Z-95 Missile Swarm for a brutal alpha strike.
Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. He's a very situational pilot, at least for now.
Yeah, can't even really use him like Leeachos as a cheap elite carrier.
I was thinking he'd be great with a cannon or turret and he's soft enough that I don't think he'd be OP, but as of right now I have no use for him.

I so want to try that...
I've had some fun with him with Advanced Homing Missiles.
"Here, take a crit."
Things that trigger on hit.
I think having weird and narrow pilots is a good thing. If every pilot is just generically good then things become less interesting.
I really hope the madmen using Blount with the XX-23 to spearhead a missil3 toating headhunter squad make it work.

I don't disagree. I just don't see myself using him to great effect.
Any time I've faced him he's done very little but explode uselessly, love generic z-95's but the named pilots just Arnt worth it for terrorists or scum.
Blount is sad that ruthlessness is imperial only.
Try Cracken, Blount and Roark. Fit the Z pilots with Swarm Tactics, Cracken with cluster missiles, Blount with IPMs or Assault Missiles. You have room for another Z and upgrades on Roark. Three pilots shooting at PS 12, Cracken giving two pilots a free action and fun was had by all.
Unfortunately the Zs only have 2 pilots that can take EPTs so you're limited in the shenanigans you can pull but I hope when Rebel Veterans show up the Zs might get some Ace pilots.

N'Dru Suhlak would like a word.
He's pretty good with Lone Wolf and Cluster Missiles
Faced it killed it, used it and watched it fail miserably then die.
Expensive four hit aces are a trap.
I'd say just run him naked or run him with a 1 point EPT and call it a day. Soontir is so common that paying for his ability purely just to plink a stealth device is worth it. When thread tracers come out they'll be great on him, and if you have 3 points IPM's or AHM's wouldn't be too bad but I wouldn't strip stuff off of other ships in my list to get extra points for the Turbo Toker.
All you need is to run him with a few generic Zs without missiles and let them swarm a target at range 1. Blount pops his Tracer, let Zs wittle some low agility target to the ground with TL+Focus.
19 points for Deadeye and Tracers makes him kinda do what Cluster Cracken does but for more targets, with less range limitation on the ordnance, and much cheaper.

his pilot card makes a decent coaster

Tracers use focus, not target lock.

The only trouble is that Tracers only allows a Target Lock on a single ship. Sure, you're going to be able to melt anything that gets into Blount's arc and fails to kill him, but I'm not sure I can see myself going all in on missiles with it.
Some small part of me wants to make one of the concussion missiles to assault missiles. But that is probably less good than I think.
Blount once IPMed my Firespray into a CR90.
