Healing Factor

By mrstarwars00, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hello world

I've played D&D in the past, but never a Star Wars RPG. My friend is trying to get some of us to play EotE. He and I have RPG experience, but the other three (two and a half?) do not.

I've been going over the EotE book, and looking at stuff here, and I want to create a Firrerreo character. Since the Firrerreo went almost entirely extinct in 4 BBY, no one has bothered to create species details for them (at least from what I've found).

In trying to come up with stats and details on my own, I'm struggling to figure out how to incorporate their unusual healing abilities. I don't know the rules and mechanics all that well, so, hazarding a guess, I was thinking either a high wound threshold, or the "wound number" dropping over time. The wound threshold is essentially HP, right? So do your wounds naturally heal over time anyway? I haven't gotten through the entire 400+ page book, unfortunately.

The Firrerreo page on wookieepedia details their physical attributes. I'm having trouble pasting the link from my phone, for some reason.

Thanks for any advice, we've all been noobs at one point or another :D

Hm, well Trandoshans kinda have something similar. How about looking up to their limb regeneration and such?

There are a few ways to heal:

Stimpacks. Anyone can administer a stimpack, however you can only benefit from 5 per day. Additionally, the first heals 5 wounds, but each pack after that heals one less. Meaning in normal circumstances, you will heal a total of 15 per day from stimpacks.

Medicine checks. Someone with the medicine skill and a medpac can perform medicine on someone wounded, however this can only happen once per encounter. You heal one wound per success. Depending on the skill of the person doing the check, I've seen 5-8 wounds healed this way.

Bacta. Jumping in a Bacta tank will heal one wound per hour (I'm pretty sure it is per hour, we don't use them often).

Time. If nothing else, everyone heals one wound per day over time. Trandoshans heal 2 wounds per day.

Not sure that's what the OP was asking...

To be honest, if this is your first outing with the system, I'd stick with the printed species.

That said, for the Firrerreo, I'd peg their 'quick healing' as a combination of a higher than standard starting Wound Threshold (probably a 12 at most) and getting a boost die on Resilience checks to naturally recover from a critical injury. Let them ignore a single setback die from darkness-related concealment to account for their vision.

He said directly in his post he doesn't know how wounds are healed. Forgive me for providing him context with how wounds are healed in this game so that he can make an informed decision on a house ruled species.

I was creating a Firrereo NPC and so decided to give this species these stats: Brawn 3, Intellect 1, Wound threshold 12 + Brawn, Strain threshold 10 + Willpower, Wound Regeneration (the one Trandoshans have), Perception 1 and 90 XP starting experience. (I based them heavily on Trandoshans' write-up.)
