Kuat Drive Yards - Armada Custom Card/Dial Maker

By ThatRobHuman, in Star Wars: Armada

Yet another update:

When you look at squadrons, ships, or upgrades, it will show you a list of cards that have the same silhouette, so now you can more easily find related ships and titles. Problem is people tend to go use some silhouettes for just about anything, so it there may be user-abuse creep. However, now you'll find an (undefined) type silhouette that makes it blank instead of cluttering up a legit silhouette with noise.

@cynanbloodbane I'll also be making a report in the admin section for all ships, squadrons, and upgrades that do not have the undefined silhouette, soon.

Sounds good.

Sweet! No more "Every silhouette I haven't gotten around to is either a VSD, or a TIE."

And I will no longer need to search through tags to find the 5 different ways to type "needs silhouette"!!

This deal gets better all the time!

The only problem is when people put a silhouette that doesn't belong - but that I can't fix - I can only give people the tools.

I will edit as I find them. With the new search option of silhouettes, I will be able to go by class and eliminate those without too much difficulty.

The ones that will give me headaches, are the fan created ships, especially the ones without an image of the ship. From there I have 3 options.

1-revert to blank silhouette

2-try to get a description from the creator, and create one the best I can.

3-just make something up

(For the record I prefer option 2, so give me a description to work with boys & girls. Even a picture of whatever model you are using would be fine.)

Your report is up. I've also moved everything that had a tag that indicated that a silhouette was needed to use the Undefined silhouette as well. (I also went through all the Victory and TIE fighters to make sure they were on the up and up). Only things that have the wrong silhouette will be hard to find.

Hang on about 10 minutes and I can make it so that when you go to a silhouette in the admin screen, it'll display all related content as well.

EDIT: Apparently I meant 3 minutes instead. Now when you're looking at the Silhouette class in the admin section, you can see everything that uses that silhouette.

A couple of changes for y'all - mainly two things:

1) The display version of the cards will now be pre-cropped. You see, when the system generates the image, it creates a 600dpi image with a 1/8th inch bleed for when they get printed. The display version was originally just scaled down to 20%, effectively creating a 120dpi version. Now the display version will crop out the extra bleed, giving you a more accurate portrayal of what the card/dial should be. The server is going to be forcing a re-render of everything in a little while (and there's a LOT to re-render, so please be patient).

2) The name of the item now appears in the title of the page in your browser and now when you link to things like facebook, a preview of the card should show up.

Part 1 is actually because I'm trying to work out a way to integrate KDY with Tabletop Simulator - so - you have that to look forward to.

@FoaS how long is the forced logout time set to?

That's a good question. The way that apache handles session management is a little odd and is semi-random. I'll dig into it and let you know what the exact settings on the host are.

Short Answer: is now set to 48 hours

New feature:

There are now more than just Green/Red defense tokens. You can now add Blue/Yellow or Orange defense tokens to your ships, squdarons, and stations.

Basically, Blue/Yellow behave the same as a normal token, except it doesn't refresh during the normal refresh step for Green/Red tokens (essentially, 2 time use unless you have a special "refresh a token" effect).

Orange tokens are just discarded when used (they are one-time use).

Update.

I've revamped the arc system pretty significantly. This is all by way of me starting to make way to integrate KDY with Tabletop Simulator. All the official arcs are there (tolerances are within 1/8-inch and 5-or-so degrees). I did the best I could without breaking everything. I hereby call this "good enough".

I would recommend that folks do a cache-less refresh if something looks funny (I think that's CTRL+SHIFT+R in chrome, for example). If you run into any issues, let me know and I'll see what I can do to resolve it.

As for any of your designs, have a look through, just to make sure my conversions didn't break anything too badly. I'm not going to lie: coming up with a conversion schema was a pain in the *** - I did the best I could. Chances are you may find an arc that is more suited to what you want. I've also changed the layout of the ship edit page to, hopefully, be a bit easier to deal with (squadron and stations are next).

This was a big step in removing hard work on my end to allow admins and users to do more without me slaving away for several hours. This is also a VERY big step in my project to get KDY integrated with Tabletop Simulator.

@FoaS would it be possible to add obstacles templates to kdy?(debris, asteroids, stations, dust fields, etc.) I have seen wear and tear on my friend's asteroids from use in games, so I thinking of possibly making unofficial templates for casual play, and preserving original ones for tournaments :)

I guess I could, but I can't think of anything to put parameters to, since KDY is all about parametric creation.

I won't scan and upload ffgs tokens.

I really like the new arc system. A hat tip to you sir, I'll try to get Starfleet up to date roundabouts this weekend.

Found a bug with overlapping arc offsets - working on it.

EDIT: Fixed. Now when the rear-offset is more forward than the forward-offset, the lines merge in an intuitive way.

You wouldn't have to, just the blank template without any image. That won't infringe copyright would it?

@FoaS

First:

Your site great and I really enjoy making designing my own cards...

Second:

... and especially I am wondering wether the print queue documents are in A4 size or in one of those american formats?

thank you in advance, an keep working on this awesome site,

greetings Levin

Thanks! Wait until you see version two. You'll be able to design how you design cards.

The page size is, I think, the smaller of either in each dimension, so it should fit on both.

Your thoughts on these two cards? Points, abilities, stats all that :)

I've made Phantoms scatter an orange, 1 spend only. Also dropped Ghosts counter to counter 1.

Let me be a contributor! I want to make the battle of Jakku, an expansion that focuses on boarding troops and ground commanders and the orbital shipyards that surround Kuat! P.S. remember those shipyards? Yeah, at-at’s are gonna walk on them. My username is TheDrunkPug.
