Kuat Drive Yards - Armada Custom Card/Dial Maker

By ThatRobHuman, in Star Wars: Armada

Just so everyone knows, I might need to take a 2 month hiatus: Family emergency. All will be well, but I just need to focus a bit.

If anyone has any huge issues with KDY, you can let Gillead, Wes, or Cynan know and I'm sure they'll do what they can, but it may need to wait until I get back to tweak the code.

Guess where I found this poor thread, people? The sixth page! SIXTH! Anyways, I'm wishing to port over Halo: Fleet Battles to an Armada system and was wondering if it would be too much trouble to get a UNSC and Covenant faction.

As usual, you guys are amazing and you all do amazing work!

Can you find me a reference shot of their logos (SVG Files are ideal)? also what colors would you want the arcs / logos to be?

Here's the UNSC, with grey arc lines if they haven't been taken yet, please. Photo is a PNG. UNSC-Logo-Halo-4-copy_zpskgqdnwim.png

And here's the Covenant, with pink arcs, because that's probably the only free color left. Image is also a PNG. Halo1_-_Covenant_Symbol_zpsrzh7fnae.png

Edit: I do copy/paste gud.

i use grey for unaffiliated. we already have some factions with very similar colors so duplicating won't hurt. I'll go for a cool grey / silver and see how that comes out

Silver sounds great, thank you, FoaS.

Added the Halo factions as requested.

I've also changed a few things around in terms of the card layouts to be a bit closer to what we're familiar with.

Furthermore, I've changed the way the upgrade backs look just a smidge.

A few more features are going to be in the works over the next few weeks ^_^

New feature: Multi-filtering. You can now narrow your results by multiple parameters, for example: you can now filter upgrades with "Rebel" + "Offensive Retrofit" + "Official" instead of just one of those parameters at a time.

Made a chat room for those of you who are registered on KDY... Stop by and say hello.

I've added the ability for folks to track what cards and ships they own. This will eventually get wrapped into my plans for a list-builder (the ability to restrict your list building options to what you have indicated you own).

Well I tried to make an account yet passwords don't work. Yay....

I can set your account to verified, if it'll help

At the behest of Green Knight, I've increased the font size and hopefully the legibility of the cards. For those of you who have made things, please take a few minutes and review your cards to make sure your text doesn't run over.

I will also be looking in to chopping off the bleed on non-print versions of the cards, possible even scaling them up a tad.

EDIT: Nearly forgot - Snipe 1 through 5 have been added to the possible keyword list and the homemade "Precise" keyword has a new symbol (so it doesn't look quite like Snipe's)

Much, much better now.

Exception: squadrons. Uniques with a special ability and 2-3 keywords get overflow. The reason being the default keyword text.

Could you make a set of untexted keyword icons? So you can select which one you want? Or just take out the keyword text altogether - its really not needed.

when you make a squadron, there is an option to remove the keyword text on the high quality card.

That's even better! Wonderful

A small update

For one, I've updated a few things on the Print Queue page (hopefully a little less annoying). I've also changed it so that Faction Tokens and Defense Tokens are pre-rendered PDFs. Less load on the server when you want to print your tokens.

I've also tweaked the sizes of some ship and squadron dials. Bear in mind that the images you get from here are still 1/4 inch large in each direction than you expect (that is a 1/8th bleed on the left, right, top, and bottom).

Is there one of these for X-wing Miniatures??? If there is...

Well, I don't play X-wing, so I'm lacking a lot of context. That being said, I have wanted to revamp KDY from the ground up and one thing that I think would be of benefit is support for more gaming systems (as well as a couple more things that would be involved in a overhaul project).

Suffice it so say, there would be a LOT to do to support it, but I'm doing half of that lot anyways. Would it be worth it? Well, you tell me: would the X-wing Community benefit and appreciate KDY as much as the Armada community has.

EDIT: Also considering adding support for Imperial Assault and Rebellion (though, I know far less about Imperial Assault than I do X-wing)

I can see it as a huge boon for new players to be able to use proxy cards so they can try before they buy, but I dont play. I will run it past my son to see if he would be interested.

I also looked into creating a Vassal-module generator, but I'm afraid the plugin system isn't very modular. That prompted me to consider writing an online vassal-like system on the site itself using websockets. Right now it is an interesting thought exercise, but...

It should be possible the set up an extension exporter of sorts. Where you could group a number of cards and tokens and have a vassal extension created, with graphics and piece definitions.

But it would be a lot of work, I think. But not impossible.

The problem would be extension version syncing. Suppose you choose ships A, B, and C, create and download an extension. I then download and extension for ships A, B, and D. We've suddenly got two different versions of extensions - I feel like it could get hairy real quick-like.

I've added a new upgrade type: Variant.

This is intended to behave like the Title in that a ship can have one (and only one) Variant upgrade even though it isn't in the upgrade bar. Upgrade cards of the Variant type are intended to be ship-specific (X-ship only). This is to allow folks to avoid having to make non-unique Titles.

I've done some re-tweaking of the rendering system. Font-size and line-height was reduced slightly as I noticed too many upgrades and squadrons were overflowing. To compensate for any legibility issues that this change might have made, preview cards are now a bit bigger.
