Lol repeat post.
Edited by phild0Did wave 7 fizzle?
It's still saddening to see that people tend to focus on the competitive side of the game to judge a ship. Keep in mind that not everything may have been designed with the tournament player in mind, much as that may shock and horrify you.
The Kihraxz doesn't need built-in repositioning, that's why you have StarVipers.
Stop waiting for a ship to appear in the top of tournaments before you judge it, fly it and take it there yourself. Be a trailblazer. Bring variety.

The fact that a ship doesn't appear high in top level tornaments usually means the top level players have judged it, and found it wanting. I doubt the kind of guys that make the cut in nationals and worlds copy lists.
Kihrax is okay, probably the most fizzle-able ship since it lacks natural out-play reposition capabilities, sadly. 5 x Kihrax is still cool though as a jousting list. It is probably just falling out due to the Crackshot swarm, which is hilarious in its own right.
Can be argued if not the Punishest fizzled more (expensive on itself, expensiveness really starts to hurt when loading the system slot and with ordnance, mostly one ace seen, not that much more).
Then you have a point about Crackshot, over time it might turn out to be at the "annoying-level" of TLTs.

If you're going to use that rationale, when at least base it on THIS year's competitions, when players will have had plenty of time to practice with the Wave 7 ships and experiment with builds.
Nationals were already done and dusted by the time Wave 7 rolled around last year; Worlds arrived only two months after Wave 7 did, hence why there was only a limited amount of experimentation with Wave 7 ships during the competition.

My statement was more in general toward people saying 'no matter nobody else did well with this ship like ever, YOU CAN DO IT'.
Odds are Random X-Wing Player #234 will NOT find the wonder list with triple Rookies that every single top level rebel player missed so far. IMO if you are not a top player yourself, you should take stuff at face value: if nobody is using a certain ship in tournaments, there's probably a reason for that.
To be fair, there are two incredibly misunderstood ships in the wave
The first is the punisher (re: redline; the generics aren't misunderstood as much as overpriced so as to not upset the bomber)
Redline's a glass cannon railgun that costs as much as an ace. It makes sense to compare him to soonts due to the pints, but they're nothing alike. Redline's job isn't to survive as much as it is to get your squad one rounding TLTs and rebel regent.
Redline's a flying tank that requires good position relative to his squad and good range control for getting TLs set up. Squaddies help protect him and set up his shots via the lost ancient art of blocking
Deathrain is a different beast. If the meta was still 2 ship, he'd be dominating it with conners . he's very difficult to fly and punishing (heh) if you make a mistake
The second misunderstood ship is the yv-666. So many people locally and on the forums just load it into aggressor territory and I can't fathom why. It's a super scum shuttle (big gun on a sled); the spray and gressor are the fat ships
Now sure, world's players might not deem them competitive, but that doesn't make them uncompetitive unless you only play at worlds. The vast majority of players do not and never will, so being worlds-viable isn't the only relevant criteria to being competitive

The point is that there's a REASON behind them not being taken.

I think I'll hold off judgment on that until after the Coruscant event, where the top players will have been forced to fly all factions instead of just the faction they're most comfortable with. Paul Heaver is extremely good, but that doesn't mean he's taken a long hard look at every ship. He's a Rebel player first and foremost.

Are there men who take ships because of the looks to tournaments?
That...doesn't sound realistic o_o

We've been 'round and round this before. No need to keep saying the same thing.
It's realistic
Say you have the falcon and some piss ugly bantapoodu EU crap that FFG didn't save with their miracle working models
Say they're both viable
Falcon wins on looks alone
Unfortunately, there aren't any ships that ffg hasn't made absolutely gorgeous, so I guess looks don't matter in that regard ![]()
...if nobody is using a certain ship in tournaments, there's probably a reason for that.
Exactly. And in this instance, the reasons were:
A: the ships weren't available for Nationals and
B: they had only been available for two months prior to Worlds.
So I think it's only fair to wait until after Nationals an Worlds this year to see how well they're represented and how well they get on there before making any snap judgements based on "what was used in major competitions".

There's a beautifully sculpted and realistic Kihraxz, the truly aesthetically pleasing Firespray, the majestic space cow, the predatory Defender and even Starviper
And what do they take? They spam IRONING TABLES and E-wings
Beautiful? Hardly. Effective? Indeed.
so maybe when it comes to equal power levels and the player is equally good with both ships he will look at the visual part, but definitely not use it as the main criteria
B: they had only been available for two months prior to Worlds.
And then the hypocrites emerge.
Sure thing, and that's the reason we saw KKK list, Poe on both sides in finals and TLT in like half of the lists.
sure thing, yeah, that's the reason we saw 4 YVs overal, and 7 Kihraxes. people "didn't have the time" for them
Somehow they had it for Poes TLTs and K-wings, and we must all wonder, what's the REASON for that?
Edited by WarpmanDoes Paul Heaver only take Rebels because he thinks they are the most powerful? Or because he likes their play style better? Or maybe he just likes them? Do we look at Paul taking only Rebels as a sign that Rebels are obviously superior? Or maybe he just likes their play style?
If you just look at straight forward details like this, then you can make all sorts of conjecture like Rebels are the Most Powerful faction in the game. We don't really know why he takes only Rebels, but if you want, you can claim that they are the only viable faction. Look at all the numbers of Rebel lists in the top events. That backs you up. Therefore, you can say that Rebels are the most powerful faction.
I don't believe that, but you can always look at things straight forward and come away with a wrong conclusion.

I've said it before and I'll say it again
Failure to at least acknowledge the glory of the majestic drunken albatross Kwing belies a lack of taste
Anybody who thinks that the Punisher sucks has not used the following:
Redline with Fire Control System, Extra Munitions, Cluster Missiles
You can add either Plasma Torps or more Cluster Missiles depending on points availability. When the Chimps finally arrive, it will be even better.
Redline with chips eliminates the problem of "**** you" dice
always got through poe shields in a round except one game where Red refused to roll above two and poe (blocked) refused to roll less than two naked evades
With GC, that just doesn't happen anymore

Because of the T-70 pilots, Poe is the kid smearing ice cream on his face? As are tlts of the turrets, and k-wings of the tlt platforms? Nah
Maybe that was the first synergy they discovered so they stuck with it because there wasn't time to practice everything new. Maybe?
Perhaps Scum doesn't have all the tools the other factions do, yet, so while there are great ships with great builds it's harder to put them together. When scyks get fixed watch scum blossom. Not impossible...
Ultimately, "Correlation does not imply causation."
Edited by ViscerothSWGI don't remember any but the one KKK tacticians everywhere list
Also only one 4 y tlt spam
Poe's no ice cream thing, but he is a jouster due to lack of options. It's not really a lack of finesse (blocked poe is dead poe) as much as it is he won't be boosting + rolling everywhere with only one action.
The winning list had one TLT, the other was just a range 2-3 stress hog.
here we go
https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/192577-2015-worlds-results/
- Heaver rebels
- Corran + poe + proto
- iggy pop
- palp aces
- triple Ks
- palp aces, the palpening
- TLT spam
- Dash n Horn
- Horn n 2 TLTs
- Cheri Whisper
- Miri + Corran
- Dash n Horn, they hurt you long time
- 7 Tie swarm w/crack runner
- whisper + howlie + miniswarm
- Stresshog, 2 grey tlts, autoblaster Y
- Triple Aces, Soonts vader & carnor
and 17 is Palp Aces, the Acening
oh hey!
#21 (6-2, 30, 1034) - Phil W
- Cartel Marauder + Feedback Array
- 3x Syndicate Thug + Twin Laser Turret + R4 Agromech
so I guess the unpronounceable fighter IS competitive ![]()
anyway, a lot of lists in the top 16 and quite a few TLTs (only one full spam). Only two had K-wings and only two had Poe in the top 32 (three full TLT spams, adding the 24th and 32nd)

On the other hand, he changes lists radically from one year to another. Does that mean his preferences do a 180 in the span of 12 months? Or that he plays to win and fields what he feels is the most effective list at a given moment?

So, you are saying that Rebels are always the best choice and more powerful than Imperial?
PH3VR = TR8R
Beware of Rebel activity in your area. Just say no to turrets.
