I'm paging through the new crystals in Keeping the Peace and I saw something odd. The Sorian Crystal is marked as requiring 4 HP to install rather than the standard 2 for a Kyber Crystal. This is reflected in both it's description and the purchasing table 2-7. Is this crystal truly unique in how much it takes up, or is this perhaps a typo? What do you all think? Thanks!

Since it's in both the description and table, I'd say that it does indeed require 4 hard points to install that particular crystal.
The again, I'm rather surprised the multi-crystal attachment is only 2 hard points, so maybe there was a switch-up there, with the Sorian meant to require 2 hard points and the multi-crystal attachment to require 4 hard points?

Especially since it would take up just as many hardpoints to install an Ilum crystal, add the cyclic crystal array, and then slot in the Sorian Crystal for no HP cost.

I'm guessing because they judge it to be powerful? I mean, it has a rank of parry automatically (so that even characters that don't have a lightsaber tree get a degree of resistance) up for offer, and it has good starting strength, just the four hard points is fairly unusual.
However, I would say that it's intentional. And it makes the parry action considerably stronger via boost dice.

Couldn't you just slot the Cyclic Crystal Array and just put the Sorian Crystal in for just 2 HP ?
I know the fluff says that it's used to add a second crystal to a Lightsaber, but it's not a prerequisite to have a Crystal in the Lightsaber before... so in theory, you could put the Sorian Crystal inside a Lightsaber for just 2 HP if you pay the goods to get the Cyclic Crystal Array.
Using my powers of divination I foresee an instant house rule at my table that sets the HP cost of Cyclic Crystal Array to be equal to the highest HP cost of any crystal in it.
Given the book it comes in, maybe it's meant to counter the armorer's ability to add more hard points? Unless that's just to his armor, then I dunno.
That only applies largely to the ability to craft armour (which, well, it's armour) or to counter tinker, which can add one hard point. The only other thing I can think of is Intuitive improvements available to artisans, who can add two hard points to pretty much everything.
(That being said, considering how expensive lightsaber mods is, one could probably just put the crystal in and be reasonably happy.)

Lightsaber hilt crafting rules found in the FaD GM Kit does a basic but similar thing as armor crafting, where Triumphs grant HP as well.

Dev answered this question in the Order 66 episode dealing with Special Modifications. Answer was that using the Sorian in the CCA (for standard CCA hp cost) is totally legit.
