Three X-Wings, none of them named Luke, Poe, or Biggles!

By Comradebot, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, as some of you may already know, I'm a bit of a crazy person when it comes to my squad building. And as much as I was amused at maybe using Graz the Hunter at a tournament, last night I remembered how much fun Porkins is to fly and decided "screw it, I need to bring Porkins". So I tried to throw together a list and ended up with something rather X-citing:

"Blue Ace" (27)

R2-D6 (1)

Predator (3)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Ello Asty (30)

Predator (3)

BB-8 (2)

Autothrusters (2)

Jek Porkins (26)

Push the Limit (3)

R5-D8 (3)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Total: 100

And by "exciting", I mean I took three of my favorite X-Wing pilots and decided to mash them together. White K-Turns! White T-Rolls! Hard turn boosts! What's there not to love?

Still, been through a few iterations and wouldn't mind some feedback.

Jek Porkins: pretty set here. I'd probably prefer Hull Upgrade if I could afford it, since it's one more HP he can potentially regenerate, but Integrated Astromech will do just fine. Honestly love this build, PTL Porkins is a beast when he gets in the fray and being able to K-Turn and then potentially PTL is killer.

"Blue Ace": Also pretty sold here. Sure, autothrusters may be nice, and sure, if I wanted to shave a point off I could just go with R7-T1, but I'm an unashamed fan of R2-D6->Predator on this guy. R7 has never been super easy for me to use in a way that doesn't result in mutually assured destruction while the Predator route leaves temp-Wexley/Pava as an excellent and unpredictable flanker. Thrusters if I could fit em', but hey, IA ain't bad.

Ello Asty: Definitely both the pilot here I have the least experience with and the one I've actually got some ???s about. I feel like the choice here is between PTL and Predator, and for the moment I've landed on Predator. Sure, I could slap PTL on him with BB-8 and use that old trick, or I could use an R2 Astromech and make a substantial chunk of dial green, but if feels like either way I'm limiting the shenanigans he can get up to with those white T-Rolls. Meanwhile, Predator frees me up to do them as often as I desire, which **** well may be a lot. Heck, I've even considered R5-X3, the most forgotten of all droids, just because it'll be such a mind-frak when Ello white t-rolls through an asteroid and promptly focuses or boosts into position. But hey, BB-8 and the possibility of the white T-Roll should make him both incredibly unpredictable and highly maneuverable. Not sure I can turn that down.

But yeah, planning to take this to a casualish tournament tomorrow, the last Winter tournament of the season before I start my store championship tour (which should hopefully see me with lots and lots of Bossk and "Bad News Barons"). Wanted to take something fun and different, but still potentially potent. Any thoughts? And yes, I'm pretty sold on taking these three. If I wanted Poe it'd be damned easy to squeeze him in wherever I wanted.

First off Comradebot I don't think your builds are crazy. Having read some of your other posts I know you are a fellow YV-666 enthusiast. I think it's one of the most under utilized ships in the game and I recently won a store tourney with a Bossk build. Good luck with the championship tour!

As for your build here, not sure how your flying your ships but if you do want hull upgrade what about doing this:

Jek (26)

R5-D8 (3)

PTL (3)

Hull Upgrade (3)

Blue Ace (27)

R2-D6 (1)

VI (1)

IA

Ello Asty (30)

BB-8 (2)

Lone Wolf (2)

AT (2)

Again not sure how your flying these, but I think this might work has an alternative. Asty is a flanker in this setup though.

I would go with your build as is.

Predator is a great card, so you can't really go wrong with it. Your Ello build is exactly the one I prefer, although I also like lone wolf, R2-D2 & autos, but its a bit more expensive and not nearly as cool in terms of movement shenanigans...

Can't say I've ever conceived of anything like this but I'd love to play it. Crazy cool list.

Porkins at the topish tables!

Alright, made it to THE top table... And then got stomped by a TIE Crackswarm, because if there's anything I struggle with its swarms.

Still, Porkins in the championship! Woohoo!
