Disappointment

By Blackbird888, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So I picked up The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and page 177 has a sketch of Han Solo in a brown duster. The fact that this is not in the movie, well, see the thread name.

I laughed. Although I haven't yet finished the series itself.

Why not turn this disappointment into opportunity, and use that badass look as inspiration for an NPC or PC? The concepts in this art book are great inspirational material.

Loving the Edge feel on pages like 38, 61, 70, and 71 to name a few.

Also, wow, those two pagers on 46-47 (Despite the ISD this is really awesome and appropriate for KotOR), 82-83 (When I see this I think below a repulsor city on a gas giant instead of a tower on a desert planet), and 94-95 (time to raid some tombs) really get the imagination going.

Yeah, but something about seeing it on screen makes a difference...

And I see what you mean about the picture on the top of p. 38. That would be a cool setting for a game. Replace the ISD with a crashed Clone Wars or The Old Republic era ship would make a neat setpiece. Also some neat things on p. 108-109. There are also some cool pieces, which I can't remember where, of bits of the Death Star, like the trench and the Emperor's throne, submerged underwater, and scavengers diving for salvage. And I spotted a pic of the Falcon traveling underwater to a starport.

Page 34 has the Death Star Trench under water. Page 59 has the underwater throne room and Falcon underwater heading towards the Death Star surface.

I also like 96's rice field village.

Well, Han already did the duster-thing in RotJ, though that version was more camo than leather.

Maybe they thought TFA was enough of a re-tread as is without going that one extra step? :D:P

(Advisory: The above remark was made in jest, and should not be taken seriously. If you actually did take it seriously, please have your sense of humor examined by a professional, as you obviously need to loosen up.)

That's ridiculous for the following 87 reasons! Let me list them all. Also, review my infinite backpack PC build.

Maybe his Force ghost will wear it in the next movies.

I reckoned this wasn't worth it's own thread, so I'm hijacking this one to vent some frustration, since it's about books and disappointment.

I got the Dangerous Covenants Source Book in the mail this morning, and while I've been very happy with the quality of the FFG books thus far, this one was f'd up either during delivery or manufacturing.

Large pictures, therefor the spoiler...

Aside from the unidentifiably speck on the front that wont come off:

The spine is thinner than the book itself and it looks bloated as a result.

When you open it up it looks like the printcover was glued on wrong to the hardcover, like the hardcover should have been closer to the spine.

This also leads to the actual pages almost jutting out in the front.

As comparison, this is the spine of my Far Horizons book, wich came in the very same package...

The worst part is, that Amazon in my country is out of stock now, so I can't send it back to get a replacement.

I know it's just a book, but at 30 bucks a pop I expect a little better.

Sorry for ranting, but this vent needed to happen.

Anybody else with disappointing products/deliveries?

I buy all my copies from a local game store. Blemishes and defects are part of the "experience".

If there is a fault in the binding you should return it, but scratches and whatnot don't typically fall underneath product warranties.

Mail FFG? They seem pretty on the ball when it comes to defective product.

My other books also have scratches or a speck over the cover nicked off, I came to terms with that pretty early.

But the hardcovers on all my other books don't have this problem. :I

I will probably try that, not sure how they feel about shipping to europe for refunds/replacements though?

That I cant help you with. I'm domestic, and all I asked for was one yellow die. But still, it cant hurt to ask right? The worst is that you're no worse off than you are now.

And at least someone inside FFG knows there's a problem going on that rises to the level of generating customer feedback.

That's true, I'll send them a message soon.
