Yeah, I like the change quite a bit. He is a very scary offensive powerhouse now. I also like how his Heroic Feat hurts him, which lets him put himself in range of activating his Heroic Ability for even more damage. And the ability triggers off of injured friends too.. very nice!
In fact, his Heroic Feat combined with the right weapon surges has so much damage potential that the Overlord really can't count on the life expectancy of any one monster no matter how much health or armor it has.
Seems like the right counter is to punish his low speed and finite actions with large numbers of smaller, mobile monsters. This is usually the best strategy anyway.. Krutzbeck just makes this even more important.
Edited by CharmyI like how is Heroic Feat is advantageous, right from the get go.
Every quest, one free, no miss attack, after dice are rolled. You missed? Switch to three red dice! you didn't do enough damage to kill that master kobold? Switch to three red dice!

He's the perfect candidate for a Berzerker class now.

For the most part, you're right. However, I find myself continually frustrated playing a Berserker with a speed of 3. Being able to Charge only 3 spaces is *really* limiting. I think a speed of 4, or even 5, is required to make the zerker really viable.
Whenever I play a speed 3 Warrior I find myself always wanting to play the Knight. Yes, you lose some offensive ability, but the significantly enhanced mobility with Oath of Honor and Advance is absolutely critical to compensate for bad speed, in my view. So, I'd probably play Krutzbeck as a very hard hitting Knight.
Edited by CharmyWith a speed of three, "charge" needs renamed to "lunge".
Still its a nice upgrade. Before the OL could ignore him and his ability is near useless.
I picked up "Treaty" from a local game store over the weekend (along with Dark Elements, finally.) I really like the minis included with it. The demon lords are quite imposing, and the texture on the Crow Hags (who have a really wonderful terrifying looking concept drawing on the rumor quest page) is done really well.
I'm gonna make him a Skirmisher.
Just to verify.... His Heroic Feat could potentially allow him to K.O. Himself, right?

Yes, but as soon the damage is dealt to you, if you're dead the attack resolves inmediately, cancelling any damage you could deal to the monsters...
Here's a conundrum, though...
"Use while you or a hero adjacent to you has 6 damage token on his hero sheet"
What if you're adjacent to a hero that's knocked out, so the hero is not on the map, only a hero token...
I'm thinking the heroic ability would not trigger off the adjacent hero in that case.

Correct. For the purposes of his hero ability, since it is not healing related, that hero token =\= a hero. That is, you cannot count KO heroes in this case- just live ones with at least 6 damage.

Hear that kiddos? make sure your team-mates don't get knocked-out, or else you can't use your cool super power!

I think you miss understand how this works. Here is how you do it
* Start off by letting your buddy get knocked out
* First action stand up.
* Second action say "here is how you kill a monster" and cross your fingers and hope for no X or you will look really foolish. ![]()
