So we had a little skirmish tourney last night at my FLGS.
We had 5 players, so did 3 rounds with a few byes for some players.
I didn't get any byes due to strength of schedule etc etc.
So, after going 2-0, I went into the final game. Rebels mirror match.

We were just into the 3rd or 4th round when time was called, and so finished the round.
I had 1 VP (From Gideon activating On a Mission in the first turn) and just couldn't get his stuff dead, although a lot of stuff was close to death.
He had 20 VP.
His Luke had 5 HP remaining and his final Trooper had 1 HP remaining. With my activation of the sabs I was able to kill the Trooper for 9 pts, my luke rolled a dodge against his luke, then attacked back and killed his. This left us at 20 VPs each.
At this point I would have won the game on the tiebreaker anyhow - 19/20 of my VPs were from killing stuff. 10/20 of his was from killing stuff.
BUT at the time we didn't know the tiebreaker rules, nor did we find them out. So we both believed I needed to gain at least 1 VP from somewhere to win.
My final activation was Gideon. His only realistic target was C-3PO (everyone else too far away or too much HP). But the problem was C-3PO had his white die, a reroll from cower and had full health of 4 HP.
I spent a good few minutes deliberating and trying to see another way out. Of course by this point the rest of the shop was watching. A spectator - one of the players - absent mindedly mentioned "On a Diplomatic Mission" which of course would give me the 1 VP I needed.
I must stress at this point that the guy that said it, was definitely saying as a slip of the tongue, not a deliberate 'coaching' or a tip to me. Of course he felt awful and knew that in a more serious event it'd be a DQ.
This put me in a tricky situation. Would I have eventually remember On a Diplomatic Mission? I had used it earlier on, on the first turn. I had used it in other games. But I'd also just spent a few minutes trying to see a way out of it all, and hadn't (yet?) thought of it. Obviously we'll never know if I'd seen it.
If I used it, I won, went 3-0 and won the tournament. My opponent's final standing wasn't affected much either way.
So we talked it through, my opponent said go for it, he wasn't going to hold it against me.
But I still can't help thinking that I did the wrong thing. Even though I've since figured out that I would have won it on the tiebreaker anyhow.
