2016 Store Championship Results

By stmack, in Star Wars: Armada

Optionally, I also have a site up and running that users can submit tournaments and results and does some basic stats and rankings based on them which may be of use at http://armada.miniranker.com

Hey,

Last night I tried adding the lists from the Dice Age Store Championship to the ranker. It keeps telling me that the lists are accepted, but then they're not showing up. I tried it again this morning, and still no-show.

Hmm, weird thanks for trying, I'll look into it, had heard similar reports before but thought it was fixed.

It seems to be working now.

Okay, I've updated the list of tournaments on Page 1.

(Also giving this thread a bump.)

I want to again give this thread a bump and encourage people to post their tournament results to the Mini Ranker.

If you're having problems with it, feel free to PM me, and I'll see what I can do to help you out.

We're having a Store Championship tomorrow at Guardian Games.

I won one. :D  :D  :D

It was at my local games store Tezza's Games But it was close and a lesson was learnt some pic's are here and the top 2 lists are here and soon the Barteps will be here. It was one wild ride. A big thank you to all my opponents for the fun close games and the TO for a smoothly run tournament.

Just took 1st (out of 10)at Power 9 games in Las Vegas today.

MC-80 Assault with Ackbar, XI-7, Intel Agent, Engine Techs, ECM, Advanced Projectors, and Home One title

2x Assault Frigates with Intel Agent, XI-7, ECM, & Gunnery Teams

First 2 games went 10-0, 3rd game went 5-5

I was lucky enough to take out top spot at Good Games Newcastle's Store Champs on Valentine's Day (heartbreaker!).

Because of the joys of Australia the store champs kit was yet to arrive so I don't even have my sweet loot sadly.

My list was as follows;

VSD-I; Admiral Motti, Wulff Yularen, Boosted Comms

VSD-I; Flight Controllers, Boosted Comms, Veteran Captain

GSD-I; Demolisher, Engine Techs, Assault Proton Torpedos, Ordnance Experts

2x Firespray-31s

Major Rhymer

"Howlrunner"

1x JumpMaster 5000

3x TIE Bombers

2x TIE Fighters

Coming in at 400pts even, with Superior Positions, Fire Lanes, and Precision Strike as my objectives.

Tried uploading the fleet to Miniranker, but it seemed there wasn't enough slots to add in all my squadron types (which made me laugh).

I managed to win the event at Game On in McCook, NE over the weekend. We live in a small town with a small gaming scene, but the event was awesome, with great people. I took the following list:

MC80 Command Cruiser with Ackbar, ECM, Defiance title

Assault Frigate MkII B with Gunnery Team, ECM, Turbolaser Reroute Circuits

Assault Frigate MkII B with Gunnery Team, ECM, Turbolaser Reroute Circuits

Jan Ors

X-wing Squadron

X-wing Squadron

X-wing Squadron

400 points even

We played 3 rounds, and I lost the initiative bid each time. In the first game, I was playing against a Rebel squad with 2 MC80s, a Corvette, and a bunch of named squadrons with the bomber ability. Dodonna was the admiral, and the two big guys had XX-9 turbolasers to maximize this. I chose Most Wanted as the objective: he picked one of my Frigates and his MC80 flagship to be the objective ships. Luckily for me, he pushed his corvette too far forward early on, and I was able to destroy it at long range before it could use its Overload Pulse. I was able to distract his squadrons with my non-objective frigate while my own squadrons and my other two ships poured fire into his flagship and destroyed it. By the end of turn 6, I hadn't lost anything and won the game 9-1.

My second game was against an Imperial Motti fleet. He had one of each Imperial ship, plus Howlrunner and 3 TIE fighter squadrons. Again, I chose Most Wanted as the objective. He selected his Imperial Star Destroyer as his objective ship and one of my frigates as the other. Luckily for me, he deployed his fleet a little too spread out, so I was able to move quickly and engage part of his fleet with all of mine. I killed everything on the board except Howlrunner, losing nothing and winning 10-0.

In my third game I faced another Imperial fleet, this time with Ozzel at the head. Imperial Star Destroyer, Gladiator Demolisher, and a Raider, running with a very scary bunch of fighters: Soontir Fel, 3 TIE Advanced, Rhymer, and 3 Firesprays. I chose Superior Positions this time, figuring that I could hang back at long range and prevent my rear arcs from being attacked much. I was very scared of his squadrons however, and knew I had to try to neutralize them. Luckily, he placed Soontir at the very front of his Rhymerball, so I was able to move my squadrons forward just enough to engage him alone, without escort triggering. I was able to kill Soontir off early, then engage most of his fighters and tie them up for the remainder of the game. All three of his ships came up together, and we traded lots of fire. I was able to kill the Raider and the ISD, while losing one frigate and almost losing the second. I was ahead on points ship-wise, but he had two unengaged Firesprays that were able to keep attacking the rear of my frigate and earn victory tokens. It was a great game, with lots of good positioning and tough choices. Nail-biting to the end, but I won 6-4, and had enough tourney points to take home the trophy. I learned a lot, had a great time, and wish I could play Aramada tournaments every weekend. Such a great game!

Dodonna the Oppressor won its store championship this last Saturday at Guardian Games in Portland Oregon!

There is a mini AAR on the list page with a more detailed one to follow.

I won one as well with

MC80 assault with Ackbar, ECM, Advanced projectors , and Defiance title

Assault Frigate MkII A with Gunnery Team

Assault Frigate MkII B with Gunnery Team

Tycho and 4 A wings.

The A wings did an avg of 10 dmg to ships a game... they did great. I won 9-1 first round, 8-2 second round, and 7-3 last round.

Second place was a list with 4 raiders and a demolisher and 2 tie fighters and a 13pt bid.... the raider where shooting 4 black and 2 blue out the front with re rolls... hitting very hard.

Now where have I seen a list like that? Hmm...

I've been toying with an incredibly similar list, sort of a response to the current rage of bidding low and going first with big swings. MC30s are quickly becoming my favorite Rebel ship, with Mon Mothma they are deceptively tanky. Did you face any heavy squadron lists? Seems like those could pose an issue...

MC30s are my favorite, too, but it took me a long, painful time to realize they are best titled and with Mon Mothma for survivability.

I faced one dual ISD list with Motti and squadrons my first game, but was able to tie them up most of the game with the A-wing and YTs. I have found that as long as the squadrons aren't rogue, you won't have too much trouble as you can scoot away and probably never have to worry about them again. Even with rogues, so long as you are going max speed and swinging your tail out you should be okay. Going speed 4 can save your bacon and Mon Mothma evades are awesome against bombers with just one die.

My Dodonna the Oppressor list took on a 6 bomber list and won overwhelmingly

I just noticed that list in the sub-forum minutes ago. Is it simply that you stay at speed 4 and the bombers can't stay on target long enough? I'm definitely not doubting the potency of the list, but I haven't really gotten to test it properly yet (unfortunately I only get one game a week on a regular basis). The lists are relatively similar between MM and Dodonna, I can see both being a PitA to deal with on the other side.

I think going forward I might drop Lando and the Awings and slap Intel Officers on the MC30s instead, which improves their ability to push damage through and just keep the YTs. I like having two squadrons just for the brief tie up, or, if going against another list with something trying to get away with one hull and brought no squadrons. They are also nice to have in case someone is silly enough to bring no squadrons and have Superior Positions as a mission.

I think the Firesprays and Fireballs in mass would be my worst threat actually
