Raider: lets the Empire field an ISD - and still get 3-4 ship activations.
Why am I getting so angry about the lack of wave 3 news

Unless you go for that build with the ISD + three Gladiators - not faced that one yet. Not sure I want to...
I would just be happy to have some news even if it rules being explained.
But it seems there was little to no plans for anything past wave 2
@OP : It's normal, you're showing clear symptoms of brand addiction. Nothing to worry about though, I prescribe buying another MC80 will alleviate your symptoms until your condition is stabilized or until you develop a case of angry bank account manager.

One of the developers is on record letting slip that he was working on Wave 4 - this was during the stream of the final fight at Worlds last year. So they've got stuff in the works. They just need to get it out, now.
They don't need anything. So far it's more you guys showing a clear need for information ![]()
If they don't release info now, what's going to happen to them and their business model ? Not much. ![]()

Let's not start with that semantic battle over words like "need" and "required" and "forced". My heart can barely handle it.
I simply meant that, they're not at the stage where the next steps require them to come up with new ships, they don't need to suddenly get the ball rolling on some new waves that are suddenly in demand - the next step for them now is just getting Wave 3 to the point that it can be released.
Please don't toy with me anymore.
Pls.
Edited by jhoxI talk during movies.
Now about those playmats.
Pls.
Maybe Wave 3 can see a match of some X-wing ships. Lambdas, transports, the Ghost. Why not make wave 3 spectacular and objective based rather than a simple brawl. Ion chasers anyone?
to answer OP
because you are on your way to being a Sith?
I agree, one of the ways these games grow is adding new things and when people see the new things advertised then they buy the game.
I kinda feel like this game is dieing in my area, I haven't met a new player in months and the last 2 tournaments we had fell through because only 2 guys showed up.
Four of my friends have been playing X-Wing for a few years now. Only one owned Armada. In the past month, two more of us bought in (without knowing the other was doing so). The fourth seems to be considering it and loved the first game he played against me.
If you're not finding enough opponents, teach people the game.

Haha, I didn't want to start a semantics debate
They aren't forced, or required to do anything, they have no obligations to release more products or more information as of right now ![]()
Releasing new stuff, however, would be a smart move. But what they're doing now is ensuring that most people have enough time to purchase their releases to buff up their collection rather than saving for the next wave. It's a common practice in games with a collectible aspect : Games Workshop doesn't announce releases until a week before so as not to deter purchases of other products and prevent consumers from thinking "I'd rather save my money for a couple of months and buy this rather than what we have right now." Whether it's a good business practice or not is up to debate ![]()
I think FFG is taking the time to reorganize its logistics department as well as foolproofing the new waves. The staggered launch was designed for a risk light approach in investment and orders for the suppliers, and I'm not sure they expected the high success rate of the game. Wave 2 was delayed due to production constraints (IIRC), so I'm sure that now they're trying to size more accurately their expected demand so people can get their hands on stuff. After the initial rush on Wave 2 products, it took my FGLS 6 weeks to get restocked, which is a huge cost of opportunity for FFG in terms of cash flow.

This game can only die for you if you stop playing it. Its has every thing it needs to play and is only limited by your imagination and willingness to play. Games don't need to keep having new rules or parts added to them to remain alive and playable. Yes I would like to see some big transports and some more missions to fight over but if they never come I will still keep playing the game as is and just add things and missions on my own. Hell we are doing that around here already.

Exactly. Community is what makes or breaks a game locally, and so far FFG is doign a good job of fostering an inclusive community all around (championships, events, uniform rules all around, periodic FAQs, etc...). That's also why Games Workshop is steadily on the decline, because they've focused on the products rather than the community (they published their S2 results for June-November 2015, and despite multiple big releases in terms of systems such as Age of Sigmar and Horus Heresy, along with rapid fire releases per faction, they are only managing to stabilize their sales figure with a slight degrowth, and have not made more profit than in the prior years).
I know talking about Games Workshop is the godwin point of wargaming, but I wanted to illustrate that focusing on the community like FFG does is the most interesting strategy over releasing products in rapid fire like Games Workshop does.
And so it begins...again.
I love trend analysis. While a useful business tool, it is thought at the US Intelligence Academy as a method to understand why countries, militaries and other entities do what they do. Here let me show you a trend.
Wave 1 was released at GenCon in 2012, that was August 16th
Wave 2 was released on February 28th (look at that it was over 6 months) while their Kessel Run event (same thing as our Sullust event) occurred in December. Oh to help you more, They previewed Wave 2 in September 2012.
Wave 3 was released on September 13th, WOW what a long wait there! You know. . . Wave 3 was not even announced until May 4th so that was 2 months from the time of Wave 2's release
Wave 4 was not even announced until February 7th! Talk about a wait and a half!

Quality games with a dedicated fan base community dont die. Sometimes, they even continue to grow beyond the official game, long after the gaming company that made it has vanished.

West End Games is long gone, but Star Wars D6 has a thriving fan based community, that runs games at cons, and produces free, fan mad expansions and supplements.
While I don't foresee FFG or their support for Armada. Going away in the near future, even if it does, here is no reason the game can't continue without them.

Even if FFG does stop at Wave 2, I would be content.
In the end, we are left with a deeply strategic board game that evokes Star Wars like no other and those miniatures standing on our shelves will still be a source of pride for years to come.
I actually a fan of a slow release cycle. Let everything sink in and see how things balance. I think they released too much too quickly around waves 4 and 5 (including aces packs) and a new faction to see how the balance would be. It also outpaced my wallet. So slow and steady here is what I like.
Fear not my brothers! Wave 3 is indeed coming. I've checked with my sources. It's just a question of how soon.

Sorry, that's all I got from the horse's mouth.
Why does anyone doubt that there is a wave 3 coming?
Personally I'd rather FFG made sure on the delivery schedule so that when announced the timeline matches up so they don't have a repeat of what happened with waves 1 and 2.
I also suppose I'm not worried about the lack of articles because I also play imperial assault, some star wars lcg and the original descent -- the first 2 have articles and all 3 have enough content along with armada as is to keep me happily playing.
I actually think that they are working on wave 4 right now. Don't believe me, go find the GenCon interview
