First post - critique anti-stress list

By rjm1110, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I was looking for advice regarding a list I wanted to try versus a friend I play against who loves to create squads that heavily feature stress.

A bit of background - got in to the game about a year ago, and play casually with a few friends. I have purchased plenty of every expansion, but we have no problem with proxying unreleased upgrades and ships.

The list -

Ibtisam (35)
B-Wing (28), Sensor Jammer (4), Wired (1), B-Wing/E2 (1), Hera Syndulla (1)

Tycho Celchu (36)
A-Wing (26), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Proton Rockets (3), Push the Limit (3), Autothrusters (2), Expert Handling (2)

Ezra Bridger (29)
Attack Shuttle (20), Twin Laser Turret (6), Predator (3)

I have considered swapping out EH on Tycho with either VI or Juke

Any comments appreciated

Both Expert Handling and Juke are great. I flew a Green with juke the other day and it was a lot of fun. Tycho's high pilot skill is great for either EPT, but it depends on if you want to be more defensive or offensive. Looks like a solid list, but a bit fragile on the joust, so watch out for beefy squads.

I like the general idea behind it, the only issue is 2/3 of your ships will have no repositioning. I personally didn't enjoy a perma-stressed ibby because it turned her into an expensive linear jouster. I wasn't using sensor jammer however which matters. So the question is, will she be tanky enough for 35 pts to just go head on? Idk try it and see. Stay on target is probably the better EPT here though either way..

For more suggestions you could try rejigging the list a bit to put hera on the attack shuttle instead, along with LW. Completely opens up the dial, positioning isn't 'as' important here due to tlt and now your rerolling blanks and auto changing eyes. Thats poe status, sometimes better.

Meanwhile Ibtisam could take kanan jarrus instead. Haven't tried it but in theory it opens up the dial giving the option to remove stress unlike a green which is mandatory. This would allow you to say.. PtL + adv sensors to keep your action economy while triggering her ability.

The other option is farlander who is probably superior for this concept except on defense where ibtisam is better. I've been loving farlander with PtL/AS/EU. He can ditch 2 stress a turn if necessary and his arc dodging is pretty epic.

Tycho looks fine as is. EH will be a headache to ships like vader and anything packing ordnance. I wouldn't spring for VI or juke on him personally because it limits his maneuvering to just boost but I'm sure others have had success with each.

Anyway just some ideas.

Edit- actually forget what I said, change tycho to daredevil. Its just too good to pass on. He makes up for juke by keeping his arc and range.

Thanks for all of the input.

I really like these ideas here. I reworked the list to match the above changes. It came out a little high on points, which was easily corrected by removing the Proton Rocket from Tycho

Good to hear, maybe give us an updated list to work off btw.

So I went and played a game with my version of stress eaters- usually keyan, tycho, hog, but swapped keyan for ibtisam (built as you had her except with SoT). She was much better this time around than my previous build of wired, title, hera. Not as radical as farlander but definately more durable when under fire.

Anyway point is I was running psycho tycho (daredevil/EI) against vader, fel, omega leader and there were a couple key times when EH would of made my life much easier by ditching target locks. Especially one round where I took 3 damage from OL. It's worth considering for this reason alone although I still maintain that DD is superior. Anyway something to stew on.

This is the list I am going to try for now -

Ibtisam (38)
B-Wing (28), Advanced Sensors (3), Push the Limit (3), B-Wing/E2 (1), Kanan Jarrus (3)

Tycho Celchu (33)
A-Wing (26), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Push the Limit (3), Autothrusters (2), Expert Handling (2)

Ezra Bridger (29)
Attack Shuttle (20), Twin Laser Turret (6), Hera Syndulla (1), Lone Wolf (2)

I think I am going to try out Daredevil on Tycho as you suggested with a future squad. Sounds insanely fun

Looks good although seeing ibtisam in the list now I would suggest farlander in her place since he can clear the stress each turn prior to adv sensors kicking in. Otherwise try it and make changes from there.

I don't think Ibby is worth the point sink, which is sad cuz she always sounds like fun.

What about this variant of your list:

A-Wing: · Tycho Celchu (26)

Wired (1)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

Autothrusters (2)

A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Push The Limit (3)

Attack Shuttle: · Ezra Bridger (20)

· Lone Wolf (2)

· Hera Syndulla (1)

Y-Wing: · Horton Salm (25)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

· R3-A2 (2)

Z-95 Headhunter: Tala Squadron Pilot (13)

XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (1)

Guidance Chip (0)

Four ships. Lots of mechanics that aren't blocked by stress. Wish I could get the procket on Tycho but not worth dropping a whole ship for. The Tala can be surprisingly helpful - consider Heaver.

Oops....I got a little off track here. The original idea was to create a list that was going to be receiving stress repeatedly from my opponent. So, cards like Advanced Sensors and PTL will not help me, as the assumption is that I will already have multiple stress tokens that I cannot get rid of in one turn. Tycho is the obvious exception, as he is crazy!

That being said, back to the original list -

Ibtisam (35)
B-Wing (28), Sensor Jammer (4), Wired (1), B-Wing/E2 (1), Hera Syndulla (1)

Tycho Celchu (36)
A-Wing (26), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Proton Rockets (3), Push the Limit (3), Autothrusters (2), Expert Handling (2)

Ezra Bridger (29)
Attack Shuttle (20), Twin Laser Turret (6), Predator (3)
