Glad it's back up.

Xwing on Vassal is different than playing with live miniatures. But it's a great way to play a game on the days/nights when you don't have a local group that is playing and it's a great way to watch some of the more notable players. With the giant league going right now there is 2-3 times as many people online playing on a given weeknight then there was a month ago. The learning curve is a little steep the first few games but after that it's a breeze. It helps that the xwing community has spilled over and most everyone on vassal is willing to teach a new player how it's done online.

My buddy has been on Girl Scout Cookie Selling restriction last week and this week; he was very sad that we couldn't get in a game of Vassal last night.

Server is back up.

Both the Xwing and Armada vassal modules are quite elegant. After a couple of tires you have the main shortcuts worked out and gameplay flows quite smoothly. Season with Skype/Teamspeak to taste. Not quite the tabletop experience of course, but a good addition to the hobby.

Not to get too off topic but I think IA will pick up now that they've fixed some balance issues/released more content.

FFG just did a major errata on those 3 units that were dominating the meta, so much so that they have to print entirely new cards for them (they're giving them away in the tournaments kits). And with Return to Hoth theres enough to make all three faction competitive. I think it's finally where it needed to be.
