I'm suppose to start a league game soon and vassal does not appear be working.

Anyone else getting this right now?

Yeah... I don't think that was how he was expressing his view... I think he was more being sarcastic that Vassal ever worked... which, for what it does, is actually pretty amazing. Especially with all the pilots on lately. Great place to be able to learn the game we love even better!

Gotta agree with Captain Lackwit. Vassal, even when working as intended, is an unwieldy mess at the best of times. Seriously, I don't understand how anyone can stand using it.

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but this sounds just like one of those mini rants by someone who spent 5 minutes with it, got frustrated, and quit. For people who spend a bit more time with it, it is a wonderful tool for testing out squads, unreleased content and taking part in international tournaments with some of the best players in the world - and getting to know them. The Vassal community is hands down the most friendly gaming community I have ever met.

If you ever decide to try Vassal once again, give me a PM - I will be happy to help you get the hang of the controls and understand it. After 2 or 3 matches, I bet you will remember all the important shortcuts. They have a logic to them.

Both the Xwing and Armada vassal modules are quite elegant. After a couple of tries you have the main shortcuts worked out and gameplay flows quite smoothly. Season with Skype/Teamspeak to taste. Not quite the tabletop experience of course, but a good addition to the hobby.

I appreciate the vote of confidence, but I don't run the vassal server, nor am I in contact with the people running the vassal server. I just update one of its hundreds of game modules. The one place you could check for news was on twitter from #Uckelman.

I only got one direct PM asking about the vassal's status this time, from sozin, so it was alright :-)

I would love to... but there is one problem: if I try it, i will probably like it, which will mean I'll start buying it. I'm trying to focus on Armada, with a little Xwing on the side...once you start down the path of multiple miniatures games, forever it will dominate your wallet.
