Release dates ?

By vszeus, in General Discussion

The aGot LCG "Road to Winterfell" chapter pack says it has been released on the official FFG Website (today January 28th 2016)

My local store has it but says they were instructed by FFG not to sell it till tomorrow Friday January 29th 2016.

Is there a reason that the FFG website says it is available for sale now and it is being sold in several countries (I live in Canada) But my local retailer has documentation that says they can only sell it tomorrow ?

If this is wrong who do they contact to get updated information. I understand they do not want to break imposed street dates from FFG, but it seems weird that some can have it but some can't. Makes it had to build decks for weekend tournaments etc.. gives others unfair card advantage/testing time etc..

I realize it is only one day, but I am puzzled by this; does anyone have any information on this ?

FFG Organized Play ???

Thanks

Lion Rampant sets the Canadian release dates and they are always one day later.

Is there any reasoning behind this decision ?

Are we second class gamers to the rest of the world ? (I realize that is a big jump but trying to emphasize the silliness)

It just seems we are getting the short end of the stick with no explanation.

I am not upset just confused

Couldn't tell you. Be glad you don't live in Europe or Australia.

Because we are the second largest country in the world and they want to ensure every store has stock for sale on the same date.

That argument sadly does not hold water.

I live in NB, if I don't get my product due to shipping delays I am not going to drive 53 hours to BC ...(oh and 53 hours back.) to get the product from a zone that did, even if it is in the same country.

It is a policy that warrants explanation.

If they do not have the product, I understand

If they do not want to break the street date, I understand

But for the store to have it, be past release date, and still be told not to sell it for fear of losing the Distributor

Makes zero sense. (is it a strong arm tactic from the distributor?)

I have my pack today (after a second drive) so I am not upset, inconvenienced yes, upset no.

I am just wondering why this practice takes place

I didn't find Taking the Black in my LGS until late December, and it had supposedly been out for a long time by then. I find that slightly more annoying than having to wait one day ;)

One day makes you this upset. Wow.

If the store is unwilling to break the Canadian street date can you really blame them ?

I am sure you can easely find a phone number or an email adress to contact Lion rampant and ask your silly question. As for the unfair advantage, I dont understand your point. if you cant buy the new pack, nobody in your area is going to have it before you.

This is so silly, in Europe we get the stuff several weeks after it is avaiable in the states and you go crazy about one day.

I got two e-mails (anxiously clicked "remind me" too many times) from a local-ish online store about chapter pack #2 being in stock Friday. The CLGS (clueless local gaming store) still didn't have it. I got an order in for the new stuff late Friday, plus a crapload of Star Wars and might see it all Wednesday, finally. Shipping from that particular store is over half the cost of a chapter pack, so I can't really order one item at a time either :(

The ULGS (useless local gaming store) a short bus ride from here still doesn't have it, and on top of that nobody who works there even knows a **** thing about LCGs. Not even that they exist.

As if that wasn't annoying enough, the RLGS' (ridiculous local gaming store) stock database doesn't even have products from all of the three most popular LCGs listed. Android:Netrunner is filling up several shelves and is listed, so that's their most popular. AGoT 2e exists in the database, but they only have mats (at $35 each), so it's something they just never can keep in stock. Star Wars doesn't exist on their lists, but checking with the person who does the purchasing revealed all three games are expected whenever. People who wait less than a month to get new LCG expansions are lucky.
