[mathwing] Ezra + FCS + TLT and the Ghost

By treybert, in X-Wing

I was curious so I ran the numbers. I found a very effective technique to calculate these normally difficult effects (like change 1 eyeball with a reroll) quickly.

It assumes that if you have a focus, you use it. In regards to TLT, I haven't checked yet, but I imagine your odds can be slightly improved if you neglect to use focus on your first attack if you roll 2 blanks and a focus. That gets extra complicated because it has to take into account the defender.

TLT: naked - estimated hits
--------------------------------
First/Second shot : 1.5

TLT: just ezra - estimated hits
--------------------------------
First/Second shot : 2.08

TLT: ezra with FCS - estimated hits

--------------------------------

First shot (no TL) : 2.08

Second shot (TL) : 2.64

TLT: FCS - estimated hits

--------------------------------
First/Second shot : 2.25

TLT: FCS + Focus - estimated hits
--------------------------------
First shot : 2.81

Second shot : 2.49

Ghost Primary (range 2-3)
--------------------------------

Naked : 2

Ezra : 2.68

Focus or TL : 3

Ezra + TL : 3.43

TL + Focus : 3.75

Ghost Primary (range 1)

--------------------------------

Naked : 2.5
Ezra : 3.26
Focus or TL : 3.75
Ezra + TL : 4.22
TL + Focus : 4.69

Didn't need mathwing to know that. Any ability that let's you modify dice while stressed is a really really good ability. Only down side to them is stressing your self to make them work can often hurt you in the long run. Unless you Fel.

... or Keyan, or Tycho...

Interesting. That makes him a solid gunner/Han buddy as well.

I was more interested in how close ezra performed to actually having a focus, particularly on a 5 dice range 1 shot.

That's pretty much how I plan to use the Ghost

Hera with Ezra, Tactician, Fire-Control System, Engine Upgrade, Twin Laser Turret and title

Zeb with title

Y-Wing with TLT as escort, or a A-Wing (Phoenix Squadron) if you feel more thematic

Leave the Phantom dock so you can attack twice per round with the Ghost and expend the possibility of Tactician with the rear arc. Undock the Phantom only when the Ghost is about to get destroyed, like a Nashta Pup, only it's still worth 18 pts and have 3 attack dice and evade and barel roll action. Pick a red maneuver with Hera, then switch to the best one once the lower PS ship have moved. Attack with a TL and mini Focus on each attack. Give up to 4 stress with Twin Laser turret in one round. Then next round do a green maneuver and change it if you need to to not get blocked. Alternatively, you could switch Tactician for an Intelligent Agent so you can switch your maneuver and adapt even against higher PS ship.... but I like the idea of 4 stress per round....

The interesting distinction with a primary attack, is that Ezra change the Focus result into a Crit. He's basically Chiraneau pilot ability that works at all range.

Ezra build I want to use:

Ezra Bridger (20)

Push the Limit (3)

Kanan Jarrus (3)

Total: 26

Simple, cheap, keeps him stressed and gives you plenty of actions. Could even take on a TC or turret if you got the points.

Yeah but he's got to live to do that and if he's a credible threat your gonna pop the shuttle and deny him the opportunity.

Four hit points behind two green survives well if he's last man standing, if he's prime target he's gone.

If he's ejected just before the ghost dies yeah could save the day, taken as an escort for Han I'd be tempted to wipe him out first while I have maximum firepower to overwhelm his ability.

This build is a bit expensive, but might be evil:

Ten Numb (37)
B-Wing (31), Tractor beam (1), Calculation (1), B-Wing/E2 (1), Ezra Bridger (3)

You could add a sensor jammer to add some survivability if you like, but this setup is something I was looking at running in a 2-3 ship list, though I wasn't keen on one of my ships doing no damage, especially in a two ship list.
