Is FFG changing the card look

By Fuzzywookie, in X-Wing

Changing the layout of the cards? As in pilot skill evade etc placement on the cards to make pic Stand out.

the promo cards can have a layout for more art coverage.

the rest stay the same no matter what it seems

I love the new look of the promo alt art cards coming out of the Systems Open but they can only really be done with generics since otherwise there's no room for the pilot abilities.

Duh. That makes sense. I do like the art though.

If this TIE isn't proof that a ground battle is coming to X-Wing... then you'll never be convinced.

It IS coming... sometimes within the next 10 years.

What's the deal with the gibberish on the cards anyway? I presume that's not the final text...

I would love cards like those!

Another thing... Wouldn't it be nice to have some flavour text on the named pilots? I'd probably be all up for that.

That's intentional. That "gibberish" is actually Aurebesh, the language of the Star Wars universe. Those are the promo cards being given away for the world wide X-Wing event this spring. I think they look damned cool.

That is Aurebesh and that is how the cards will remain.

The Star Wars LCG has a bunch of Aurebesh promo cards too.

Can anyone translate Aurebesh?

Anyone can with enough patience.

We already know what the cards are though. They told us in the articles yesterday.

Look at the Blue Squadron Novice and the Epsilon Squadron cards for the translation.

Using Aurebesh lets them print language-independent promos for this international event. The fact that people think it is neat is a bonus. I think they are just saving themselves the trouble of making six or seven versions of each card.

Hehe 'gibberish' was a bit of a glib term I admit.

Unfortunately it puts me right off the cards. Pity. Unless they're double-sided: Earth/Aurebesh...

Wait what? Where did these beautiful things come from?

In the LCG they did it for uniques. But just the name and flavour text was Aurebesh. Abilities were still English.

Why? Did you need to read blue squadron novice that badly?

Well good news... kind of... they are double sided! But one side is the Blue Squadron Novice and the other side is the Epsilon card.

Ya that's cool, I meant the full art part though. The new BB-8 aurebesh upgrade card has the description in aurebesh as well.

Text being in Aurebesh is irrelevant, since most people already know the original card and its text.

In fact, it is actually pretty easy to directly read aurebesh on the cards when you expect that word to be 'pilot', that other word to be 'initiative', an so on...

Why? Did you need to read blue squadron novice that badly?

Pretty much. That plus I don't like the look of the language.

It would be nice if they sold them on there website after the event.

They are double sided in that one of those images is on side "A" and the other is on side "B" ie the blue squadron is on the front and the tie/fo is on the back

It would be nice if they sold them on there website after the event.

And would defeat the point of them being prizes.

That is an interesting point, however,

They are not "translated" into the Star Wars language, they are transliterated into the Star Wars script. The text is still in English, it is just using a different font with non-english characters.

edit: oh, and those promo cards are freakin' GORGEOUS! Someone with better graphic design skill than I needs to get on converting all the pilot cards in the game into this format for us to print out and use.
