Well there goes my ebay account
Is FFG changing the card look
Aurebesh is actually surprisingly easy to learn.
mazz0 and I spent a couple of quiet days at work teaching ourselves it last year and by the end we could read it fluently and write it reliably if a bit more slowly.
We've not kept it up since unfortunately and have forgotten almost all of what we learned.

Meh, I guess I'm in the minority regarding the unreadable text (to save on international versions). Cutsie idea, not really appealing to me. Better to have no text vs. text that 99.9% of the planet can't easily read at a glance.
For those who don't know: since TFA Google translate can "translate" the text into SWGibberish
sadly this forum engine has no such font available and freaks out at all tries to use others

It's BB-8, people playing this game know what he does.
Dies anyone know what the small white circle with the number 16 is? I don't think I've this in xwing before.

It's the logo for the 2016 System Championship.

An Icon for the event + year?
2016???
Yeah, it's the event logo. All of the prizes for it we have seen have that logo. The cards, the acrylic templates, even the space mat.
(Maybe not the acrylic tokens, I didn't look real close at those)
I like the cards... Almost too much... wish I could buy them ![]()
I want cards in English but using the same layout. That full bleed art is nice.
What's the deal with the gibberish on the cards anyway? I presume that's not the final text...
That's Aurebesh, bro
I'm feeling very inspired by these cards...
Beautiful alternate cards. Count me among those who don't see the point in cards I can't read though. Had it just been the titles would have made more sense.
Using Aurebesh lets them print language-independent promos for this international event. The fact that people think it is neat is a bonus. I think they are just saving themselves the trouble of making six or seven versions of each card.
That is an interesting point, however,
They are not "translated" into the Star Wars language, they are transliterated into the Star Wars script. The text is still in English, it is just using a different font with non-english characters.
No universal translators at work, in this setting. The 'galactic standard' language IS English - or near enough to be effectively identical. Some words that aren't "real English", but mostly names of places or descriptions of things.
Of course, there are other languages, besides standard, too - Huttese, Shyriiwook, etc. But no translation needed for the standard language, it's English, just not written using Latin characters.
